Apple beats Wall Street predictions with record-breaking iPhone sales revenue
The stock market is always like this. Stocks go up more on future promise than actual results. Likewise goes down on fears of lower revenue.
AAPL went up significantly with the AI announcement. No real revenue associated with it except for the vague projections of enhanced future iPhone sales.
Now AAPL is going down because projections for China are low.
10K invested in early 2000s is now over 1.5M. If I listened to the analysts I would have never got that. -
Upcoming M4-based Mac mini rumored to replace USB-A with more USB-C ports
dewme said:There are plenty of inexpensive USB-C hubs out there that will give you quite a few USB-A and other ports. Nobody like dongles, but on a desktop computer they are more tolerable, especially if the form factor works well with the Mac mini's aesthetic, like this one: https://satechi.net/products/type-c-aluminum-stand-hub-for-mac-mini.
Every dog has his day, but the USB-A's days are soon to be over for good and we will all have to adopt a new dog.
My main reason to avoid USB-A now if that I don't need multiple cables for charging / connectivity. I can get rid of a lot of cables / adaptors if I didn't have USB-A devices. -
Apple released the iMac 27 years ago and it's better than ever
Dead_Pool said:Many have no idea how close Apple was to going under when the iMac was released. There was virtually no chance it would survive in the face of the onslaught by industry-standard Windows, which had finally been able to copy the Mac’s ease of use after more than a decade of trying. Today, Apple is arguably the most powerful company to ever exist. Truly unbelievable, and all thanks to one man: Steve Jobs. -
M4 Mac mini rumored to get a redesign making it smaller than ever before
Why can the new Mac mini use a USB-C connector for a power supply? So the same type of power supply that the MacBook/MBP has. GaN chargers are only slightly bigger than the old Apple USB charger. Probably don't even need a 100W output.
That way you could make the mini really small and have the same power solution as laptops.
Or as someone said before, a mini with a dongle that you can plug directly into a monitor. Essentially you could take your Mac anywhere you liked as long as there is a USB display available. -
New Macs in 2025 rumored to get at least one major design refresh
blastdoor said:Seems like the Mac mini could be more mini. Maybe more like a small cube perhaps?I like the idea of a small cube though that may not be practical. My issue with the Mac mini is the cost vs. specs. I feel that Apple need to be more aggressive on pricing to put a squeeze on the low end market. I know it is not Apple's style but they did that successfully with the iPod range.
The base price needs to be 499, not 599. The base model doesn't have to have the latest M chip, using a M2 will be fine. However 256GB SSD is too small and 16GB ram would be useful.
Apple does well on the mid to high end machines but they can increase their customer base with better priced entry level options. This is not a race to the bottom but rather putting pressure on the competition.
The iMac also needs a refresh. The bezel needs to go. Just have the front all screen with connectors at the back, bottom or sides.
