  • New Macs in 2025 rumored to get at least one major design refresh

I won’t update from my M1 air until they get rid of the notch on pro models.  I hate the notch..
I was also going to mention the notch. I don't hate the notch, but I hate that it's there for no purpose. If they want to shrink down FaceTime components into that thin lid then I'm all for them keeping the notch, but it's been years with no movement on that front.
TBH I don't even notice it any more.  The notch is there to house the camera etc.  As it is in the menubar it doesn't interfere with anything for me and creates more useable vertical space.
My reason for not upgrading to the M4 is that the M1 is working perfectly well for my needs (now 3 years old).

  • How Apple's quietest quarter shouted back at Wall Street

It still amazes me how Apple has grown over the last 20 odd years.  In 2005 it posted 1.4BB in net revenue on sales of just over 8BB.  The five years before that it struggled to sell 1BB per quarter.  Now we are talking over 80BB in a slow quarter.

Investors love Apple's dominance with the iPhone but the dependency of that for revenue has made them nervous and very reactive.  The growth of the service segment is very important and will help stabilize the income.  Also services revenue is more stable.  It doesn't have the ups and downs quarter to quarter since it is not highly dependent on new product releases. It just keeps going up (for now).  At some point, it will overtake iPhones has the single biggest segment and will help stabilize the share price more.

  • Tim Cook may have met with Trump during WWDC to discuss second term priorities

Mango Mussolini - that's a good one. Hope it's okay to use that in the future.

Sadly I suspect he will win the election in Nov.  Correction he will win the electoral college but will lose the actual vote tally.

On taxes - Trump's policies will reduce the tax burden for the wealthy whilst the poor sods that voted him in will get shafted.

On the meandering comment, I wonder if the media or Democrats can may some hay with that.  It is possible to convince the electorate that Trump is simply self obsessed and has no real idea how to make the US great again.

  • Apple charms investors with record $110B stock buyback, dividend hike

Rather pathetic dividend increase. I really am surprised it wasn't $0.02/share. Let's just say my retirement isn't going as planned.
I don't consider Apple to be a good dividend yielding stock.  At $1 a year the yield is ~0.6%.  There are FDIC insured interest accounts that are yielding 4-5% at the moment.  So if you are looking to live off interest those are good bets.  E.g. I put spare cash into Apple's savings account.  That is also where Apple Cash goes.

There are plenty of stocks that have high yields.  Their problem is that their value does not grow.

I see Apple as a long term growth stock.  Since I bought into the stock in the early naughties, the value has increased 42000%.  That rescued my 401K for sure.  I have started to divest out of Apple but still hold a good amount.  The dividend is a bonus and by reinvesting it in AAPL I increase my holdings by 0.5-1% annually.  So probably since 2012, the dividend has increased my stock by 10%.

I’d love to see intel regain the process lead and win apples foundry business.
Seriously.  Intel have been falling over themselves to screw up.  They've relied on the old X86 business to keep themselves going.
