  • Why Apple's Transit Maps are rolling out so slowly

Google on the other hand is a really global company.  Public transport integration was added to Google maps for a whole country at a tenfold speed Apple is adding just a single city
Here in Spain.... I have learned to never trust google mapping!!! As much as I love Waze (yes I know its not google maps) - its directions are simply horrid and surprisingly, Apple maps has worked out for me very well. Which is a shame because the crowd sourced data in Waze is indispensable

  • Apple's use of web carousels target of new patent lawsuit

    From: http://www.adamfellowes.com/blog/user-experience/the-rise-of-the-carosuel

So where did the carousel originate?

The first ‘main stream’ use of the carousel is that seen as part of the iTunes user interface. Here Apple took the analogy of the carousel from the jukebox that many music fans are familiar with. Fittingly this is a great digitization of a very tactile interaction that many will have encountered before and so matching the mental model of navigating a vast music collection.

When this interaction is taken out of this space its familiarity is lost. Experienced (apple) users are familiar with information being made available in this way. Those less exposed to apple products, often, during user testing session’s falter in successfully finding or navigating content presented as part of a carousel.

My first professional digital camera was the Nikon D100 back in 2002.

Can I give you 10 up votes? I had the D100 "back in the day" and had it coupled with that rare and discontinued 80-200 glass that is still all the rage. The results were amazing... and there is definitely not a single phone that could match let alone beat that combination.

what nonsense. for my side business all of my time is spent in email or some office docs. why isn't doing that on my iPad real work? oh yeah, it completely is and your statement is troll scat, as usual.

repeat after me: not everybody is you. not everybody needs to do whatever it is you need to do.
I am writing PHP code all day... and running the code via the CLI on remote servers.... so I will be getting the next revision of the large iPad Pro to do my work when I am out and about. More then email... and honestly - a Cloud based workflow makes it the ideal device when moving around.
