  • New 'EvilQuest' ransomware is actively targeting macOS users in the wild

AppleInsider might also consider recommending regular OFFLINE backups of data your files in macOS.  (Offline meaning backups that are taken to external media, with the medium immediately disconnected from the computer after the backup is completed.)  Time Machine fits the bill here.  Even if you do get hit with the ransomware, there’s no reason to pay the ransom if you can restore from a previous back-up.
Problem is a lot of times the backups are hosed long before you even notice you were infected. Unless you have multiple Time Machine drives you rotate through I think you're still hosed.

I don't have the time to research at the moment, but does iCloud Drive provide any ransomware protection?

  • Intel promises to support two-year transition to Apple Silicon

Had a discussion with someone today who flat out refuses to accept that Apple chips based on RISC could ever match or exceed Intel Chips based on CISC for Pro users in multi core processing.

It will be interesting to see the benchmarks and what Apple comes up with.
Remember, the new os is beta.  Not yet FULLY optimize.  Time will tell.
And you can bet your bottom dollar the usual suspects will have “doomed” reviews out, 20 minutes after those dev kits are received.

Give it up, Intel. You can't win this time. Though the fact that they dedicated a chip solely to Apple...
I bet you there will be some people out there will try to persuade apple to License the chip to other hardware vendors. I wonder if the apple soc is capable of running windows natively?
Windows runs under the x86(64) architecture, so no.  ARM is an entirely different architecture.

And there is a version of Windows 10 that runs on the ARM architecture.  But as many times as I've heard people point that out - it misses the point.  Even if that does run on "Apple Silicon", which we don't know for sure, people don't run Windows on Macs to run Windows per se.  They do it to run Windows applications, which very rarely have ARM versions.
Yes, Windows third party support for ARM and Apple’s are two different markets. Plus I have a feeling Intel is working hard behind the scenes to ensure the failure of WIndows on ARM.

Why use of Mac for Windows when you can buy a new PC for, what is it now, $200?

Convenience. Who wants to travel with two laptops? Who wants two or more machines taking up desktop or rack space?

  • Apple TV hardware is a great example of Apple's full-stack integration, and is overlooked

Would be nice if you could include it in Shortcuts. I’d like it to set the audio output to my HomePods since it always loses connection to them.

  • Hue Sync Box adds support for Siri control alongside Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content

Based on my own experience with the Hue Sync Box I can’t suggest anyone buy one, at least not with an Apple TV 4K and a basic 1080p TV. It fails to start syncing, forgets the hub it’s linked to, stutters and delays lighting changes, won’t connect to the app, and when it’s in a really bad mood it will turn the picture to digital snow or simply not pass a connection through.

When it works, it’s nice. It does add depth to the experience. But it is NOT worth the price.
Never had any of those issues. You try replacing your HDMI cables?

  • Apple starts selling HomePod in India for less than US pricing

HomePod currently costs 298 AUD from resellers in Australia, that's 193.27 USD.
The cheapest place I know to get these is at macsales.com. Right now the white is $214.88 and the grey is a little bit more. Definitely worth it at that price.

We have two linked together and they sound great. While I wish they had at least one line-in and Bluetooth, it’s not needed in the Apple ecosystem. My biggest gripe is the software. If you’re relying on the OS to make the connections to AppleTV, iPhones and iPads, then you better make sure that works.

Ours is mostly used through our AppleTV and we have to regularly reconnect them to the device. Which leads to my second gripe. Some apps make this extremely easy (Apple’s built-in players) but others require you to exit them and go in to settings (Disney +, Netflix, etc.) unless I’m missing something.
