  • Apple Car team reforming before end of 2022 says Ming-Chi Kuo

    I continue to think Titan doesn’t aim to build a car, rather it will build a suite of hardware and software capabilities for manufacturers to include in their models, all seamlessly integrated with iPhone, watch, satellite services (watch out, OnStar!), and so forth. Any effort towards physical car prototypes will turn out to be test bed vehicles to design and prove the hardware and software. If there’s a re-org coming it will likely be because they are moving beyond research into full scale development if not manufacture.

    I hope this is right. I was very annoyed to find that Volvo put Android Auto in the C40 Recharge. I'm annoyed my Sony TV runs Android TV. All of these kinds of OSes should have an Apple option. What you suggest sounds reasonable - Apple developed software AND hardware to be incorporated in the cars of partners. You get get the car you want with a superior OS and sensors that integrates perfectly with iOS and maybe even Homekit.

  • Midea 8000 BTU U-shaped Air Conditioner review: energy efficient without sacrificing perfo...

    73º?
    That is shockingly low. Do you always wear long pants and shirts? Our central air system is set between 79º-81º depending on humidity and we are always comfortable. I have checked room temps against the thermostat setting and they match up. I see people posting low thermostat numbers like this all the time I can only assume they are inaccurate.

    On the Midea unit: Seems like they designed it upside down? The u-shape would have been more desireable if it put the inside and outside parts hanging below the window sill - opposite of what they have produced. There would still be a fairly thick "bridge" part that traverses the sill, connecting the inner and outer sections, but it would allow you to see out and even use the window.

  • Breaking down Apple's tricky, 'gravity defying' $83 billion June quarter

    Isn't this the time that some genius at Goldman (looking at you Rod Hall) reiterates his "sell" recommendation with downward advice and a target of $100 or so?  How does he keep a job?  https://i.imgur.com/RSYnQwW.png ;

    I believe that Goldman seeds disinformation to throw retail and other investors off. Most of the time when you see a story that quotes Goldman, the investing action they recommend taking is no longer valid or out of date. Their paying customers were given that information long before it was released publicly. Goldman saying Apple is headed to $100 has to be seen as misdirection.

    Wouldn’t have gone into production without his OK. Would not have happened at all without his push for thinner at all costs.

    It was the engineers responsibility to make an effective and durable switch that fit the overall product design parameters.  They didn't.
