  • Hollywood studios fail to prevent actors striking during writers' strike

It will be interesting to see what scheme the studios/streamers come up with going forward. So far no one has business model for streaming that works for all parties involved. Unfortunately, any new scheme will 100% means higher costs to consumers. In order for writers, directors and actors to receive residuals from streaming, we will have to pay on a per view basis. And of course that means we will pay a lot more than we pay now for content.

  • Apple Car is a matter of 'when, not if' claims analyst

Does the world REALLY need another car? Apple or otherwise.

nope, we do not need another car. what we need are more walkable and bikeable passages.

if we must continue building roads and highways for multi-passenger vehicles that usually transport one person per vehicle, then there should be as many continuous millions of miles of walkable and bikeable passages as there are roads and highways built; and all parking lots should have at least 25 percent soft scape with trees and solar panels to provide shade to help reduce the heat island effect. apple's corporate office is an example (not the only one) of how all developers from small to large should think when they "develop". we can do better, but is anyone else willing to think and do outside of the box?

That would be great, but new roads/pavement for both cars, bikes and people need to be made from materials that produce less carbon during manufacturing and installation. Cement is one of the highest CO2 producing building materials. Oddly, asphalt - partcularly if it is made with recycled old asphalt, reused aggregates and even recycled cement, has a much lower CO2 output. Solutions are there, but we haven't yet begun using them effectively.

  • Vietnam asks Foxconn, others, to reduce electricity use as power cuts loom

Giant megawatt scale battery installations could help. They are not the total answer, but they could smooth out some of the shortages. Either the factories could build them for their own use, or the power companies could build them for everyone. Companies are building them like crazy in Texas right now. Of course it's not to help people out, but being done in hopes of capitalizing on the $7000 a kilowatt hour they might get to charge if we have another big winter/summer outage.

  • Apple Vision Pro $3,499 mixed-reality headset launches at WWDC after years of rumors

This is a VERY Apple device. Those saying otherwise are just being willfully contrary. Everything about it screams Apple - both inside and out.

That being said, it's not for me - I seem to have a limit on how much tech interaction I can handle. I couldn't even manage to wear an Apple watch for more than a couple weeks before I put it on my dresser and forgot about it.
Bruh. Steve Jobs would fire the staffers pushing a freaking headset for one. Then add a wire that dangles down your body. Then add a stupid power pack that you have to wear on your waist. It’s quite ridiculous. There were a thousand “no’s” that needed to happen but didn’t.

The design looks like a Microsoft product. Super clunky. It’s just a riff off of what other people have made, but with better specs. It doesn’t really do anything different or transform anything - and it uses Unity for 3D when the rest of the world is using the vastly superior unreal engine 5 (Epic being turds notwithstanding).

The only “appley” thing about it is the watch ui rip. And I’m… it uses glass. The design isn’t nice. It’s basically the same design as everything else with a bit of change, more expensive materials, and the fisher price tension mechanism. Looks even more like scuba gear with “eyesight” active, which is the biggest waste of battery power. Unbelievable they spent so much on “hey. Look at a fake version of my eyes from outside. Oh. Wait. I’m watching a movie… now look at color blobs from outside.” What the…no wonder you have to lug around a battery pack. Wonder how many washes to get the head grease out.

Just because it is made by Apple doesn’t mean you have to turn off your brain.

As I mentioned prior to the event, it turned out to be the best headset so far. But… it’s still a headset. And they’re just not that big a deal. You can put lipstick on a headset… but it’s still a headset.

You didn't say anything of significance or value. Or truth for that matter.
