  • Rumor: Apple considering iPhone with stylus for launch in 2019

"Apple had to compromise on some touch performance of the latest iPhone X largely due to the less advanced chipset," one person said.

Yeah I don't think anyone actually said that and if they did, they don't know of what they speak. This kind of made up BS that gets passed on as fact is a lame attempt at painting Apple in a bad light.  Not sure anyone should put much faith in anything The Investor says regarding Apple, since they are Korean and thus most likely biased against Apple. This is FUD.

  • Dow Jones blames 'technical error' for news claiming Google would buy Apple

I don't even understand how this could happen. Was this jokey data that was setup for testing or demo purposes?
Probably yes some sort of testing or place holding. I used to work in television news and people were always doing things they shouldn't and sometimes it got on air.  One guy at the master control switcher liked to watch the Carson show at 10:30 on his preview monitor - this was at a CBS station in Austin.  One day something happened that got him a bit panicked, he stabbed a button and put the Tonight Show on CBS air for a few seconds.  Sometimes, when creating Chyron text pages for later in the news, people would type in fake stuff as a place holder - to be replaced when the actual info arrived in the station.  Inevitably, one of these pages either partially or in full would hit the air during a newscast, followed by much screaming and cursing at the Chyron operator.  I'm betting this is exactly what happened today.

  • Insanely Upgradeable Mac Pro

I still have friends in the video post world and I have been told that DaVinci Resolve has burned up a lot of graphics cards in current model Mac Pros over the last few years.  One story was that the job had a hard deadline and the system kept eating graphics cards which got replaced under warranty - seven times!

Apple created the affordable post market with the original Final Cut + Mac Pro.  And compositing with Shake.  Then they didn't stay on top of what people in that field actually wanted and the market started shifting.  Then they changed Final Cut in ways no one expected or wanted and the market ran away.  All this at the same time they were ignoring the Mac Pro.  If they want to get back to that place where high profile pros (Hollywood, advertising etc) religiously use Apple hardware and software then Apple needs to talk to those people and find out what they want and where the industry is headed.  People in video and film post used to Mac evangelists, but now they are not.  Either because they no longer use Macs or because the Macs they are using disappoint them. If Apple would just get out there and give them something exciting and powerful to use these people would come back.  And Apple would get their praise and evangelism which in the past certainly was very valuable.

  • Apple is de-bloating iTunes with latest 12.7 release, removes App Store

Well, it kind of screws up my custom ringtone development.  Now I've got to go through an elaborate connect a cable process to get them there.

    Fn Apple ..
What would that process be now?  I don't see how you would get the phone to see the files.  I used Garageband to create ringtones in the past, but naturally that doesn't work now.
Or "naturally" you could RTFM —

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207955

Move ringtones from iTunes to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you have a ringtone or tone in iTunes on your Mac or PC that you want to move to your iOS device, you can manually add it to your device using iTunes.

    1. Connect your device to your computer.
    2. Open iTunes. Make sure that you have the latest version.
    3. On your computer, find the ringtone or tone that you want to add to your device. If the ringtone or tone previously appeared in your iTunes library, you can find it in the Tones folder of your iTunes media folder.
    4. Drag the item from your computer to your iOS device in the left sidebar of iTunes.
I don't know what RTFM means.

Your "solution" does not work as I want to create a ringtone in Garageband and get it into the phone. All my current ringtones are already in the phone. I want to be able to make new ones and send to the iPhone as I have in the past.
What Soli said, but also — you're really bad at RTFM because these instructions tell you how to do exactly that.
Okay lets back up. I said I create ringtones in Garageband and that the process "naturally" didn't work because of the removal of certain iTunes functionality.  You apparently took offense and decided to be rude and condescending to me, suggesting I should RTFM. You then offered a "solution" that did not address the specific issue, which was that GarageBand no longer could send ringtones to iTunes.

Here's how it used to work: Get a song into GB. Create a cycle area on the track that describes the ringtone start and stop. Select "Ringtone to iTunes..." and poof you are done - Ringtone is in iTunes.  Now this is broken.  GB tries to send the tone, but because functions have been removed from iTunes it fails.

Garageband does not have a "Save ringtone" function per se.  What I did determine is that you can use "Export Song to Disk..." selecting AAC and "Export cycle area..." and end up with a m4a file.  This still does not work since iTunes/iPhone wants a different file type.  However, you can just change the m4a to m4r in the Finder.  Now, and only now, you can drag the file to your phone in iTunes.

So again, what you suggested did not work as stated.  The next time you choose to RTFM someone you probably should make sure you know what the FUCK you are talking about.

  • New 18-core Intel Xeon W processors likely to be used in Apple's iMac Pro

I get the new thermal dynamics system but they had better remember to drill enough holes in this one and I will skip using this one in any environment that has to be dusted frequently or with an internal drive optio that spins in any way
Agree. I hope Apple will do some real world, worst case testing with this machine before finalizing it.  Run some big renders with DaVinci Resolve.  Run some really complex After Effects renders. Basically find the most demanding video/graphics apps and max them out.  I've heard too many stories about the current Mac Pro burning up graphics cards with DaVinci and Apple really needs to avoid that kind of bad press with this new "Pro" iMac.
