Redesigned Mac mini with M1 Pro & M1 Max set for spring Apple event
OutdoorAppDeveloper said:There is still a strong need for a way to expand the SSD. A small slot in the back with the ability to insert and remove a M2 SSD module would do the trick nicely. Bonus points if it can be hot-swapped while the computer is on. SSDs are evolving rapidly in both speed and capacity. For a computer to have a 5 to 8 year life, you will want to upgrade the onboard storage. No external port, be it USB 4 or Thunderbolt, can get anywhere close to the speed of a M2 SSD. Even game consoles allow the SSD to be replaced with performance above 6 GB/s.
Imagine a Mini a bit taller that had four M2 slots. Instant RAID with high read/write and reliability. Would make an excellent editing system that was also portable.

The new MacBook Pro: Why did Apple backtrack on everything?

All the features missing from iOS 15, iPadOS 15, macOS Monterey at launch
They took away the ability to make app icons the same large size as the previous OS. My wife is pretty angry about this (and now that she is listening to Podcasts, angry at how horrible the Apple Podcast app really and truly is). And yes, I know there is the button for larger icons in settings, but it does not even come close to making them as large as they were in IpadOS 14. I read that the beta at one point had a "bigger" button in settings for stepped size increases, but that has been removed. All this to make room for widgets?Widgets are "cool" but I don't use them. They just don't fit how I interact with the OS. Same was true on the Mac with widgets there. Used them for a while and then just forgot about them. It also was pretty rude of Apple to place several widgets on our homscreens after the 15 upgrade without asking us if we wanted them. Sure we could easily remove them, but then immediately found out our icons were now tiny. I did some searching and it seems a lot of people are made about this icon size change. -

Apple hires new HomePod Software Head to boost lackluster speaker sales
I find the Homepod hand off from iPhone to be kind of a mess. The proximity thing is cool, but it works in a confusing manner behaving different ways at differet times. Sometimes iPhone asks if I want to send the current song to the Homepod, sometimes it just does it on it's own. Sometimes it plays what is on my phone other times it plays the last thing playing on the Homepod. I can of course select a Homepod via Airplay directly which is fine, but I feel there needs to be some polishing here. Not their best effort.
