Watch: First macOS High Sierra public beta delivers new features, enhancements

I’m waiting for my 650GB Photos library to finish uploading to iCloud before I play with High Sierra Public Beta, and I have Australian internet. -
Fire breaks out at Samsung factory responsible for Note 7 battery production
Looks like their new testing procedures are working... whoops, burnt down the factory. Well, better than customer's homes! Back to the drawing board guys, lets tweak that design a little more.
Look at an iPhone teardown. There is empty space all around the battery. Room to grow and breathe. Can you imagine Apple, of all people, leaving empty space in their designs if it wasn't warranted? The people who remove headphone jacks to make space?
Note 7? No space around the battery. A whopping 3,500 mAh battery in less physical volume than the iPhone Plus' 3,000 mAh battery!
This is is why I detest their "there was nothing wrong with the design of the phone" stance. The design of a small phone with a big screen and a big battery is a flawed design. They needed to have shipped it with a 3,000 mAh battery like the Note 5. But they couldn't bear the reviews that would've complained about battery life.
Design is about trade offs. Making hard choices. Compromises. Simplification.

Two of four Thunderbolt 3 ports in new 13" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar have reduced speeds
sandor said:and you cannot get the (finally available) 2 TB SSD upgrade on the 13"
the purpose of a portable is to be portable. some professionals don't want to travel with a 15"
Apple needs a 13" *real* pro that can be a smaller, spec-maxed computer.

KGI: iPhone 7 won't sell as well as the iPhone 6s
Facts:
1) In many parts of the world, phones are bought on two year contracts. In those places, all who bought Apple's first large screen iPhones are up for renewal this cycle.
2) Many are interested in the Plus size, more than usual, because of the longer lens, a holy grail in smartphone camera tech. More high end sales means more profit.
3) Years ago I heard "I have a Samsung because iPhones are too small" more recently I heard "I have a Samsung because they're water resistant" iPhone 7 water resistance will entice more users to switch, and justify upgrades for older users "I killed my last phone with water, now that won't happen"
4) iPhone 7 is a HUGE performance increase over the two year old devices. 2x CPU, 3x GPU, faster flash NAND, faster TouchID (same as 6s) it's a big step up if people notice.
5) The best cameras in an iPhone image stabilisation for great low light shots on the 4.7" for the first time.
6) Two new colours!! Black and more black. Black is a colour that appeals to tech heads, early adopters, and normal consumers alike. Black goes with anything.
Yeah, no one will want these new phones.
I have previously upgraded every year. I skipped the 6S Plus for the first time. No way I'm skipping the 7 Plus. It's a beast compared to my 6 Plus. And it was next to impossible to get this early on, many I know still have shipping etas over a month away. -
Schiller schools internet on correct Apple device plurals, but Cook says 'iPad Pros'
apple ][ said:I am siding with Tim Cook on this one.
Let's say that I am asking my friend how many iPads they own. Which of these am I going to choose?
(1) How many iPad do you own?
(2) How many iPad devices do you own?
(3) How many iPads do you own?
I am obviously choosing #3, as that makes most sense, it's most logical, and anybody opting for #1 or #2 is just somebody who obviously must have various issues, hopefully none too serious.
I am sorry, but saying "I have 3 Macintosh" just sounds semi-retarded, and I will have no part of it."What about iPad? Do you only have one at home or does your wife have one? Do the kids have any?""People love the iPad. They've been flying off the shelves."
"I love my iPad. I've had many over the years."
"Look in the ewaste recycling bin. Yet another iPad. There must be about a dozen in there already!"
There are truckloads of ways to phrase things without putting an S on the end, if that is what is desired. I am well aware of Apple disliking the pluralisation of their devices and I never do it. It's always been this way with iOS devices.
Anyway, people can do what they want. They will. My daughter left a pile of Legos on the ground. I told her to put her Lego away. In this example, the first feels foreign to me because I'm used to Lego meaning the whole set/pile. But Apple should protect their brand as they have and Tim Cook et al should phrase things to suit. Especially with odd product names like iPhone SE:
My whole family went and bought iPhone SEs.
My whole family went and bought iPhones SE.
Everyone in my family has bought an iPhone SE.
It means every time the mark is displayed, it's displayed correctly. It also discouraged people from getting used to talking about googling things on Bing.
