Many are ASSUMING Apple will eventually support the next AMD series/line, but with the ARM switch it is not a guarantee.  Apple just recently moved to "fully" adopt the 5XXX series across their machines and easily could drag those on through EOL of Intel processors, as long as the lingering driver issues are addressed.

TB only.  If you want USB-C, look at Plugable.  They're 10Gbps and usually around 900MB/s with NVMe.  

The price is decent and cable mechanism is unique and interesting, but this is not the "first" BYOD 40Gbps TB3 NVMe M.2 enclosure on the market.  Bring Your Own Drive solutions from Ineo, Trebleet, Avolusion, Shell Thunder, Yottamaster, Tekq, and others exist and have for months.

The "demo" of Adobe products on macOS Big Sur was the ported iOS/iPadOS versions of Photoshop and Lightroom.
