  • Apple will frame iPhone 15 USB-C switch as a consumer win

    It IS a consumer win.

And it's a win we wouldn't have gotten if the EU hadn't forced Apple to do it.
Would have been better if they skipped usbc and did MagSafe like they did on the MacBook Pro honestly.
They could still put something like laptop-style MagSafe on the iPhone, and I do wish they would. After all, the iPad Pro has USB-C and also a Smart Connector, and laptop-style MagSafe has several advantages over the current MagSafe on phones: much less bulky connector, more efficient, faster charging, and doesn’t require a relatively heavy, thick and fragile glass back to function properly. Probably requires fewer/smaller magnets, too. But I know they wouldn’t get rid of wireless charging at this point, even if I personally wouldn’t mind.

  • Eve announces AirPlay adapter Eve Play

That's what I used to use an Airport Express for.
Me too. And now I use an Apple TV for that, but I’m only able to because my DAC has an HDMI input. It seems like you could probably also use one of the older Apple TVs with optical out, if they can handle Airplay [2]. Belkin also makes a product that seems nearly identical but costs $50 less.

  • iPhone 16 Pro could get 48MP Ultra Wide camera, Wi-FI 7 support

I imagine most people would rather have a high-end sensor on the camera with the longer focal length than on the ultra-wide. I know I would. It’s just so much more versatile.

  • iPhone 15 demand will be lower than iPhone 14, says Kuo

Separately, the iPhone 15 is rumored to be bringing significant updates across the range.

I clicked this link to see if there was a rumor I had forgotten about, but apart from the periscope lens on the Pro Max and a potentially more efficient processor, I don’t see how any of these changes would significantly improve the iPhone experience. Would anyone really pay hundreds of dollars for slightly thinner bezels? Maybe somebody shooting ProRes video on a daily basis would benefit from a faster USB-C connection, but for charging, I doubt it will beat Lightning for convenience. The phone will probably be incrementally thicker and heavier, as usual, and I hope I’ll still be able to look at my ringer switch and know the status of the ringer. Apple could certainly still surprise us, for sure, but I wouldn’t say that there are a lot of exciting rumors out there yet. Nothing that compares to the introduction of water resistance, or retina displays, or Touch ID, or Face ID, or telephoto cameras, 3G, 4G or 5G, etc. Not that I blame them—the iPhone is already extremely good in so many ways that it’s getting very hard to improve.

  • Pre-Apple check by Jobs and Woz up for auction

Weird check for so many reasons.
Would a check really require two signatures (and for such a low value)?
Why do the amounts not match? ($100.97 vs $116.97)
Would they really have written the cents as a fraction in the upper line rather than just the lower line?
Would they have written out “dollars” on the line that already says “dollars” at the end?
it also seems weird to me that the printed MICR numbers at the bottom don’t align with each other, with those at the far right matching one of the dollar amounts listed on the check (0000011697). But maybe there’s a good reason for that.
