It's amazing. It goes from "hideous" to widely copied and then inevitable and obvious. We've seen this pattern over and over.

Apple using the existing playbook to revolutionize new space: exquisite hardware with software-upgradeable features. Based on reviews, for hardware alone this should be the top choice. The problem they have is they're running an uphill race with several competitors already way ahead. If early adopters have a competitor's [whatever categories this is] they'll be less likely to get this.

As the former COO I would say that the amazing logistics success was primarily his achievement. I would be reluctant to look at a direct causal relationship between number of days of delay and who's CEO. There are just too many other factors to draw a direct line.

Good detective work indeed but they're forming a narrative that maybe not everyone agrees with. It could be read as "planned obsolescence" but the actual story is more complex. Battery management makes sense and I would expect it. Notification makes sense as well though needs to thread the gap between notifying and not confusing.
