  • Apple's block of Xcloud & Stadia game streaming apps is at best consumer-hostile

Why would Apple provide Microsoft's paid gamepass service with the most lucrative marketplace on the planet for free, and access to literally BILLIONS of customers?

Comparisons are made to streaming service and Netflix, but this is idiotic. Apple is allowed to have different policies for different types of apps. Streaming games is not the same as streaming movies? Can you BUY movies from the appstore? No, you can't. It's a different model. If Apple allows it, it's guaranteed that game developers will take this loophole and exploit it by having some kind of hybrid cloud approach in order to avoid the appstore fee. It's a slippery slope. And yes, obviously Microsoft is gonna publicly bitch and whine about this, as its to their benefit. Doesn't mean the whining is justified.

Apple is free to change their appstore policies to allow this if they wish, but that would be their choice. They are also justified in leaving the rules as they are. The people that care about playing gamepass with an awkward as fuck controller attached to their iPhones might be vocal, but they're an EXTREME niche of iPhone owners. They're not relevant. I'd prefer Apple ensures rules that will keep the appstore healthy. Android can do whatever the hell they want with their appstore, does not mean Apple needs to follow suit. Even with a much larger marketshare, the Google Play store is a massive failure compared to the appstore.

  • Developers rail against Apple App Store policy in wake of House antitrust hearing

Why can't these assholes go develop their own platform? Nobody fucking forced them to use the appstore. Everyone keeps yacking about how much marketshare Android has, why don't they just shut the fuck up, pull their apps from iOS, and develop exclusively for Android? Oh right, cause Android is a trash platform and nobody makes any money there. Which would be the status quo if it wasn't for Apple. They want access to the the most lucrative marketplace on the planet, with billions of customers, while Apple handles absolutely everything, at no cost. Incredible.

  • Piper Sandler ups AAPL price target to $450 from $310 on 'solid' June earnings

How do these assholes get paid? Why in God's name does anyone listen to them? I don't recall a single instance where Apple stock was low and they didn't increase the target, it's only EVER after a huge bull run where their clients would have missed out on a shitload of gains. Where were all these increases in March and April when AAPL was at rock bottom, and the stock was an obvious steal?

Developers that whine about this policies really chaff my backside.  Absolute the most selfish, greedy, entitled people around.  Apple does all the work creating a groundbreaking new product, getting a loyal - and profitable - user base, and created an ecosystem that allows anyone to develop software and have access to hundreds of millions of users at MINIMAL cost.

Those users are Apple's users, not yours.  It's Apple's product, and their ecosystem.  Not yours.  You obviously were too young (or ignorant) about how us developers had to develop/market/sell/charge for software back in the pre-iPhone days.  Otherwise, you'd be thanking Apple for taking "only" 30%.

The reality is, Android is a mess, piracy and IP theft is rampant, and security is non-existent, and these blowholes want to force Apple to adopt such a system?  Good luck.
    Eh, this discussion again.

I guess Apple didn't do all the work creating a groundbreaking new product (macOS), getting a loyal - and profitable - user base with macOS, and didn't create an ecosystem that allows anyone to develop software and have access to hundreds of millions of macOS users at MINIMAL cost? If they did, how come you can buy macOS software without giving Apple a 30% cut?

"Those users are Apple's users, not yours". I prefer to think of it this way: my iPhone is mine, not Apple's, and I should have a say if Apple gets a 30% cut on all software I purchase.

Now, I'm the first person on the world to be against absolutely any kind of government intervention, but I'll be secretly smiling on the inside the day the US government tells Apple to open up the iOS ecosystem. And, trust me, they will.
You should have a say about Apple's cut of the appstore? Why the hell do you think you have that right? The cut they take is for hosting and managing the apps, and providing them with the most lucrative digital marketplace in the world with BILLIONS of users while taking care of everything from payments to updates. That's worth absolutely nothing to you?

And what the hell do you mean by "open up"?
    Multiple appstores?
    Who manages and curates them?
Does anything go? Porn, spam, etc?
And what percentage of consumers do you think will WANT to use these alternate appstores?
What percentage of developers do you think would actually get success from these alternate stores with a tiny userbase of user engagement?
How the hell is this even a benefit to consumers?

The very fucking reason the iPhone and the appstore became such a success is because of the trust it built up. Privacy, security, stability, etc. "opening up" provides zero benefit to 99.99% of consumers, while opening the doors for so much shit that can harm most consumers.

How many fucking people bought the fold 1? Haven't seen a SINGLE one in the wild. And I see thousands of phones per day.
