The best Thunderbolt 3 docks for Apple's 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro
fastasleep said:hypoluxa said:I just bought an OWC 13 port dock, as I have a FW800 HDD as my backup. I sold my 2012 15" (non retina) MBPro yesterday, and bought the new 15" MBPro 2.6Ghz. The dock is a tad pricey, but will be worth the ports and peripherals I have to use that were lost with the new laptop. In for the long haul here.
I still use FW800 hard drive enclosures/docks but only because I'm still on a 2011 MBP, and USB 2.0 is only 480Mbps. I absolutely cannot wait to finally upgrade this year and recycle all of that garbage and move to USB 3.1 gen2 enclosures. -
Hands on with Apple's 15-inch 2018 MacBook Pro with i7 processor
This is a nice update. Glad they were able to get it up to 32GB in RAM. Long overdue.
I am looking at the 15" 2.6GHz model to possibly replace my 2012 MBPro 2.6GHz (9,1) non retina. Just have to get a hub for it with all my peripherals I'll need to connect to it. Looking into the OWC TB3 13 port hub. It's a tad pricey but it's got all the ports I need. -
Watch: Why Apple slows down older iPhones and what you can do about it
sflocal said:"I used to take my iPhone7 into the sauna at the gym, and it would sometimes overheat"...
Even those working at AI are sometimes are a few cards short of a full deck. Many gyms, mine included have very restrictive policies about carrying phones around in the locker room areas. If I saw someone at my gym with a phone in the sauna, not only would I shake my head in amazement that they would even do that, but I'd tell that clown to take it outside to an established zone and/or report them to management.Saunas and electronics do not mix. I must be getting old because this is crap that I would never do (I'm a software engineer) and must be more like a millennial thing with serious device-attachment issues. -
Hoping to capitalize on Apple battery controversy, HTC and Motorola volunteer that they do...

Hands On: New Pixelmator Pro 1.0.5 brings Machine Learning to image editing
I have both Affinity Photo and Designer, don't use them a whole lot but am impressed by them. I bought them early on when they were initially released. I'm just waiting on a InDesign replacement from them to make the full switch. I get my Adobe CC apps through my work so I don't have to worry about the financial aspect of using them. However once that goes away, Affinity software and or Pixelmator Pro will probably be my goto replacement. For those looking for a good PS replacement, Affinity is a great option!
