Don't be so sure. I believe it probably uses infrared at least in part according to what I've read. 

You would need good sensor (way above military grade used in NV devices) to use infrared with detail . Are you ready to pay $2000-$4000 for iPhone? That is how much those sensors cost.

That was not legal in some US industries (fianace). It is just as easy as extend that policy to all publically traded companies and problem fixed... except that some banks seem to pay excessively large sums for speeches avoiding term "donation".

Perhaps we could focus on somethig more practical than storing electronic device under water. How about making the glass not breaking on some modest impacts?
