Apple's iPhone X bests Samsung's new Galaxy Note 9 in benchmark testing
Their silicon team continues to impress me, but I start to wonder what that gets us when iOS has been dropping frames on animations since iOS7, and with iOS11 started losing out in memory residency tests for multitasking too.
Hopefully 12 fixes all this and it doesn't go back in future versions, but the silicon team must hate how much the software team hides their performance. The near doubled single core score is a silicon junkies curiosity but it should have been putting the UX way further ahead than it is.
I see Samsungs "water cooling" again just meant a heat pipe though. -

Comparing the Core i9 and graphical performance of the 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro with Dell'...
Could you guys run CrystalDiskMark in Boot Camp on the rMBP at some point? Everyone just uses Blackmagic and all it shows is the pure sequential speed, where the lower columns in CDM with 4Kb random reads and writes are often more interesting for userfeel (and pre-T2 MBP SSDs didn't do that well in).(the results here also definitely show PCMag was off the mark with the folder copy test being several times faster on the rMBP - they were hitting APFS instant cloning, which is an awesome feature, but not a show of "pure" controller performance. In simple sequential tests other SSDs can get the same 3+GB/s scores) -

Everything you need to know about Apple's T2 chip in the 2018 Mac mini and MacBook Air
It's TSMC 7nm that'll be similar to Intel 10nm, and it should ship in volume first. It's not true however to say Apple has already shipped what Intel is going for in 10nm for a year - TSMC and everyone else just names their fabs one ahead of Intel does. But they should converge by 10nm/7nm respectively.
