Does this mean the 7 and prior have a 'dumb' method of determining when to throttle, like cycle count instead of precise battery age, while the 8 forward rely on precise shutdown conditions?

This is a question that should be answered too, batteries have a lot of luck and variation in care associated with them, one mans 500 cycle shutdown-prone battery may be another womans 500 cycle 90% fine battery.

Mac sales slipped to 5.1 million from 5.4 million. Hoping for a great refresh here, and the dip actually encourages me that some complaints will be heard. 

Multiplayer AR games would be interesting. I'd like to see Apple make some internally. When the actively cooled A10X bearing Apple TV came out that's what I really wanted, first party games that push the hardware to its limit. This isn't for that, but it would set an interesting precident. 


Anyways, regardless, I'm with them on slowing down features to nail performance and stability first. 

Definitely one thing I hope the next Mac Pro can retain, a 24/7 would only make it rise to a murmur and still stay rather cool.

(Wasn't perfect of course, since one side getting hotter than the others wasn't handled that well and there were a slew of GPU failures)
