Apple's suggestion seems like a step in the right direction. It's not sustainable to effectively give music away (ie literally free or paying a tiny amount). Someone has to pay the artists and for all the facilities (recording studios, agents [who curate the content for us] etc). It doesn't cost nothing so it can't earn nothing.

You know, I always worry about defending the music industry (not the artists) since they're so bad at managing their own business but they do have a right to be paid fairly. When the iTunes Store was created, industry leaders allegedly asked Steve Jobs why they needed Apple - Jobs replied "because you'd only f*** it up". Jobs was right and perhaps Apple can help save the industry from itself again.

My nation has decided to leave an imperfect but beneficial organisation on the basis of some (obviously) fake numbers and some dubious arguments around immigration. Europe is diverse (like the US) but the EU has boosted the UK's economy. Rather than engage to improve the imperfect bits, we have walked away. The only certainty is that all of us in the UK will be poorer for it, both financially and culturally.

So there really are many of us 4" hold-outs after. Perhaps that means there'll be another 4" phone in a year or two so I neither have to keep my SE as long as I kept my 5s nor change my wardrobe for clothes with bigger pockets.

I love my SE as much as I loved my 5s. Apple's fastest phone is certainly snappy

Which illustrates the confusion: The "IPhone 1" came out at the beginning of the first year. So the "iPhone 10" would come out at the beginning of the tenth year, which is the end of the ninth year, which isn't the tenth anniversary. To make "iPhone 10" match the tenth anniversary, we needed an "iPhone 0" at the beginning 'cos it was the zero-th anniversary - don't see that flying with the marketing people.
