Indeed. Since when have we seen developers or publishers pass down savings? Even banks which have gone digital and saves millions on 'over-counter' ops did not pass those savings down? In fact, it just gotten worse - everything is now charged - a cheque book, each online transaction, newer mobile payment methods which are stated 'free' until DD MMM YYYY. Just a matter of time once adoption gets up to certain %, they will start charging fee.

Could be it due to the fact that the form factor and chassis design is going to change, due partly to 5G capabilities?
I do not remember  having a form factor change within the 's' naming convention models.

The last era of naming convention has been partly broken when 8/8+ and X launch. There was no '8s' after that, only Xs/Xs Max. Then the naming convention changed to become just 11 without 'Pro', and the 'Pro' models.

1997? Hmmm...Is there no prior art before 1997 such as Garmin navigation devices which also provides traffic conditions on map?

On iOS and iPadOS devices, just a search (when inside Settings) for 'Firebase' and 'Crashlytics' will show up the list of apps that embedded these components.
