Cancelling the Apple Car is a good move, says Morgan Stanley
robin huber said:Regretfully agree. But do hope they continue to improve CarPlay to the point that it becomes the Delco of dashboard UIs. Something so ubiquitously good that at least some car makers will contract for it, while others will preserve an option for it as today. Could be a premium feature like a Bose audio system: “top trim comes with AppleDash user experience.” -
Apple Vision Pro is unsurprisingly expensive to produce
Once they combine the M2 and R1 into a single chip (by the time that happens probably M6 and R3) and reduce other chips by consolidation the price will drop dramatically. It's a ways out but we all know it's coming. SoC specifically for VisionPro.
/edit. No getting around those $$$ displays though. It will always be expensive to be on the bleeding edge there. Perhaps AppleWatch will be the first with MicroLED displays, but VP will likely be second. -
So far, the early return rate on Apple Vision Pro is pretty low
I returned mine. I was bummed to do so. In my opinion it is an incredible product. I had high expectations and it managed to beat them. My only real issue is the price. I can't justify spending over $4,000 (512GB model and tax) on the headset. From a media consumption standpoint, maybe when more is available. I watched almost everything I could watch in 3D on it, and the immersive video shows HUGE promise but there isn't much to view now. That will change, but for the moment it's limited. From a productivity standpoint it was nice having a massive monitor on my laptop, but it wasn't the best to do actual work yet.
Like many people, I'm excited for version 2 or version 3. That might be 2028, but I got a glimpse of the future for the last 2 weeks and I can't wait for it to arrive (at a lower cost). -
Recharge the Apple Vision Pro twice as fast with a better power adapter
So on closer inspection of my Apple Vision Pro Battery Pack, you see that the pack can charge up at 20.3v@3.3A max = 66.99 Watts. So there's your answer. You also can see that the AVP can draw 13v*6A (78W). I left my AVP "charging" all day on a 12 watt iPad brick (USB-A to USB-C cable) and came back to it with a lower charge then when I had first plugged it in.... So apparently 12w is not enough to even float charge it. You need at least a 20w charger for it to juice up when not in use as that worked later in the afternoon.
