Neither of those are valid reasons, but diagnostics and device recovery are, so the Lightning port will be staying for a long, long time. Long past the time when no one uses it for charging.

You still didn’t answer how someone transfers data to their device without a way to connect to a computer and desktop iTunes. It damn well is a valid reason when that’s the only way Apple allows you to get data on your device.

There's this nifty little thing called wifi which goes hand in hand with an invention call cloud storage.  Also I suspect the smart connector will come to iPhone before we love the lightning cable 

This makes you wonder how the flagship s8 with edge to edge amoled is doing.  It tells me that the "innovative" s8 isn't selling as good as they anticipated so they are leaving off the infinity screen to catch anybody who wants an s8 but not th infinity 

I doubt that.... probably has more to do with China. Since China is sensitive for them. They probably want to see how China receives her appointment or promotion. 

This has happened before with Apple. Remember the iPod touch that came out with out a cut out for a camera but had no such camera?
