This. The article didn't really explain why, other than "reasons". From a marketing and sales perspective why release an iphone 7s and 8? "Because technologies" isn't a reason. 

The technology for the iPhone 8, is probably severely constrained.  Apple probably is releasing an iPhone 7s and along with a redesigned iPhone to ease bottleneck from the oled 

Apple is only doing this for the GPU and power management and CPU chips so Apple can get them all onto one chip for maximum power efficiency.  

This is connected to the info that the gpu is moving inhouse.  

Think about it.  Vr and ar are graphic intensive.  Apple is being its GPU chip design inhouse.  Apple is working toward designing more efficient GPUs that they can then build into there A series chips for better battery performance.   Apple will be tackling VR and AR within the next couple years 

The article said Apple only had an issue with unauthorized right to phone repair and I would imagine air pods and such. 

I suspect Foxconn and tsmc with an Apple cash contribution in return for a well priced product
