Two of four Thunderbolt 3 ports in new 13" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar have reduced speeds
You're all whining about tb3 throttling. Its very clear to me that Apple is being power conscious. It's very simple. This isn't about money. This is about battery life. Not about forcing people to buy the 15" or about saving money on chipsets. This is about battery life. They throttled the 2 ports to preserve battery life. -

Corporate culture, haste reportedly at core of Samsung mishandling of Note 7 situation
Apple designs its own processor, and on top of that it underclocks it. Apple controls the power of the device starting with how much processing power the chip emits. Down to how the battery powers the device.
Samsung might design the parts to fit there phone. But they don't design the entire operating system. Idk if the note 7 was operating on snapdragon or a Samsung chip. Samsung has far less involvement and far less control over the overall outcome of the whole of the product than Apple does.
Apple may not make every component itself. But Apple make sure to control all the crucial and important components.
It its designs its own processsors now, it makes its own software, it owns the company that designs the cameras that go into the phone. It controls every step.

Apple patents method for embedding light sensors directly onto device displays
You guys are forgetting some major things.
1) Apple will never transition to a phone face that looks like a Samsung phone.
2) Apple will keep the home button where it is. It won't be a physical home button, this has become icon for the iPhone.
After all how hard is it to embed the home button under the screen.
Personally I think Apple is positioning 3D Touch to replace the home button.
The already have a gesture for multi tasking, if they build the Touch ID into the screen, how hard would it be to create gestures for Siri or for home. Or anything else . I also think Apple will start making more buttons 3D Touch like the volume buttons. The more they can incorporate into the screen the less moving parts they have the thinner the device can be.
3) Apple is on a quest for thinner and lighter. The last thing they are gonna do is add more buttons.
Apple has a method of operating. They seem to do things in parts. First Touch ID then Apple Pay... first Taptic home button that way they work out any bugs or dislikes, then next year it will be the real reason why they transitioned away from a physical home button. Probably to accommodate a edge to edge screen -
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 recall seen as a 'gift' to Apple and its iPhone 7 Plus launch
When you go shopping for a smart phone, I think the general pop. Typically buys what's on sale and what ever the carrier or Best Buy stooge is pitching. Generally steered by the consumer based of what they tell the sales person. Most people steer away from iPhones in my opinion because they want something closer to free. Relegating them to the world of android.
With that being said, with the note 7 exploding into the scene in such a bad way. Most people will probably purchase lg or another competing android brand unless they are new to smartphones or frustrated with android. Then they will possible think iPhone.
Since Samsung note 7 is iPhone 7 plus main competitor. I don't think this article is necisarily saying Samsung customers will buy iPhones, I think it's saying that iPhone 7 plus has won the battle this year interma of the better phone and that
Samsung has lost significant ground against Apple due to the explosive nature of there device. Significant marketing ground.
