He also invented the binary system, the foundation of virtually all modern computer architectures. "

Well if you read it on the internet then it must be true. No need to actually look into it any further as one might strain something.

First of all, it can?t be invented. It can acknowledged, documented, understood, manipulated, etc. but you can?t invent something that already exists in nature. Documenting the principles of binary logic is not the same as inventing the binary system. It?s like saying documenting the principles fo gravity are the same as inventing gravity. I don?t think Teckstud would argue that Newton invented gravity, but I really do give him too much credit at times.

Secondly, he wasn?t the first to discover it. You really think it took the human race until the 17th century to realize a binary system existed? How about Pingala or do you have a problem with non-western mathematicians the way you have a problem with America? Leibniz can be attributed to creating the modern binary system that we use today in computers. His work on logic was profound.

It wouldn't be the first time something was used before someone was given credit for dicovering it. Its not that I had to get this off the internet I have my Masters in Computer Science and worked coding Assember for a long time. So knowing who was credited with the binary system wasn't all that hard.

You asked the question I gave you the answer. You can try and dispute it all you want doesn't change who was credited with the discovery.

So now the terms discovery and invention are interchangeable? Now you are sounding like Teckstud.

Thats simply not true. The problem is you were being scarcastic with Teckstud asking a question you thought there wasn't a logical answer too and you were incorrect. There is not only a logical but widely recognized answer. The system was invented around 1679 and published 1703.

If you disagree then show me some published facts to dispute it.

You're surprised that he can't tell the difference between the two?

Give up, solipsism. Logical argumentation doesn't cut it with these folks.

I like your new posting style. Short, to the point, same actual information content as your other posts, but no need to wade through the usual nonsense. Excellent! I mean, the narrative aspect of the style is a little odd, but it's still a big improvement, and nothing meaningful is lost.

    So who inspired who?

You obviously can't read correctly in your retorts. I stated in my changes I can't change it to three due to the limitations of the iPhone as I am not on my computer as I am on vacation. The fields are limited due to all of your drivel I've posted.

Interview with only two riches man in the world...what is the point? If I want answers and inspirations, I would find more at TED conference.

Back to Gates' comments, he is a few years behind on recognizing Steve Job's vision and talent. Taking a chance and re-inventing portable music device, digital music and iphone...the list can go on pretty long, depending if you believe in Apple products or not.

a lot of us have no choice. So much so that our workflows have grown up around ms products. Much of this is due to simple ignorance (i.e., not really caring) and because it's whatever we've grown up using.

Given apple's success, however, the differences are becoming more and more apparent. Especially in light of ms' inability to stop the apple train with its half-assed marketing. This isn't 1995.

i love apple products, specifically it's os because it appeals to my sensibilities, but refuse to cult worship steve jobs.

you don't have to "cult worship" him. But it's ok to admire the man and enjoy his keynotes, his style, his special way of doing things. Better than having our youth or even adult population look up to kanye or t-pain, dontcha think? It's ok to have heroes, teck, espcially in business, since people with any shred of creativity and vision are increasingly difficult to come by in that area.

some on here act as if he invented the binary system. Whatever.

no, but he "invented" (substitute whatever word you like, as if it matters) attractive, desirable, usable tech. Which is kind of a big deal. In fact, it's a relly big deal in today's world.
