This makes it seem like Samsung had little o nothing to do with it. Great photo though. Whoever manages that kiosk is either an idiot or trying to capitalize on his company intentional similarities to the iPhone.

Yes the picture was slightly different, but the placement of everything was exactly the same. Even the picture on the front was the same size as an iPod Touch and had the same icons, etc. When we opened it, it was a little different just because it has a 5" screen instead of a 3.5" screen so it basically looks like someone dropped an iPhone 3GS into a "Honey I Grew the Kids" machine.

Even some of the apps on the phone have the same icons and the same feel. So yes, I think they have crossed a line and are trying to "free ride" on the marketing efforts of Apple.

1: You're talking about the galaxy s 5, a PMP and not a phone. A device that wasn't really available ANYWHERE until it popped up on Woot. This means it likely never was approved for commercial release and whoever sold it on Woot just was getting rid of the stock.

Touchwiz3 (what's one there) is a bit too far when it comes to look and feel. But touchwiz devices are only a small percentage of devices Apple is alleging that infringe. Heck, they're not even going after all of the touchwiz devices. (they left Bada devices alone, which are TOUCHWIZ phones made by samesung, but said the Transform, a stock android slider, violated their IP)

Oh, but Gatorguy is the retail genius that said that these sorts of things don't happen in the retail world... everyone is totally aware of the products they are buying and no deception takes place.

Anything within the wooden floor is Samsung's.

Everything else beyond it, it not part of Samsung.

    Therefore, these accusations are frivolous.

Get some critical thinking skills rolling before jumping to emotional conclusions people.

This was taken out of context.

I wouldnt be suprised if there is another kiosk to the right of this section that also sells smartphones.

The purpose of the apps icon walls for this store was to highlight that this part of the store is for smartphones, and smartphones that can run apps.

If people wants to point blames, blame the store not Samsung for putting up similar looking icons behind on the wall.

Apple sure put those icons up. Yep. Apple guys came into this plaza, walked right on up to the new Samsung store, and started putting icons up.

OH! And thanks for using MY image and not the one from the story.

I'm sorry about using your image. I concede that, however, your other arguments lack credibility.

Who said Apple walked up to the store and started posting icons? Thats right: nobody. Only in your clouded mind does it say that since your world revolved around Apple to begin with. It is obvious to everyone on the internet that this ISNT an Apple store. This is a third party retail store that also houses Samsung's "in store" kiosk of sort. Whatever is on the walls are the responsibility of the 3rd party store, not Samsung or Apple. I'm not sure if you've ever worked in retail before, but the location of where to put these kiosks is also the decision made by the 3rd party retailer, not Samsung.

P.S. On second thought, since AI doesnt like to quote sources or provide links, why should the users on the forums credit the sources as well?

I was just following unspoken protocol.

Go to the store. Now. RIGHT. NOW. Buy some sarcasm. Please, for all our sakes.

That's not even funny. That's just sad.

Lets stick to the main point here: Can you prove, just using this picture that the app icons were done by Samsung and not the 3rd party retailer?

I have shown you that the app icons are NOT part of Samsung's display because of the

    1) wooden floor

    2) partition on the display wall sticking out

Honestly, it doesn't matter if Samsung had a crack team of designers who were ready to post Apple logos at a moment's notice, or if a couple of bored stock boys at this store cut and pasted some icons they had on hand and hand-tacked them to the back wall.

It's Samsung's space. It's their name on it, it's THEIR RESPONSIBILTY. They broke it, they bought it.

How hard is this to understand?

They probably thought, "Hey, Let's make one of those 'wall of apps' displays I've seen pictures of."

Your explanation is a possibility too. There's lots of possibilities, which is why you ask questions. All these guesses as to who did what, or what belongs to who, or what's licensed or not are just that. . . Guesses. If there was an answer to most of the questions I originally posted, then we'd all know much more. I'm not sure why some are so insistent they know the whole story, and "don'need no stinkin'answers"

Samsung just unveiled their new company logo today. It looks like this:

And no, it's not the same as Apple's logo at all. It's .0001 inch smaller than Apple's logo and the silver color is just a shade darker. Apple didn't invent the Apple fruit, and it's purely a coincidence that Samsung also chose the same logo. If Apple sues Samsung for this, they're really being retarded.

Honestly, I'm not an Apple hater, I have 3 iPhone 4's, 2 iPod Touches, 4 iPad 2's and a basement full of Macs, so nobody better accuse me of being an Android troll. But I swear, I will never ever buy an Apple product again. Apple is being totally unreasonable in going after Samsung. Is Apple afraid of competition?

Intellectual property needs to be respected. When preparing a display like this, everyone involved has the responsibility to ensure that they have permission for ALL the graphics they use - not just the ones that they think will sue them.

And you already know that there were no releases for those logos that were used?

We know that Apple wouldn't give Samsung the rights to their App Store and Safari logos…

…since we have a modicum of common sense, yes.
