Learn how to read a financial report.

Apple posts almost NO PROFIT on operations.

The only reason it has $4B in the bank is some very saavy investments...

    3 new things for ipod:

    1. now is 10GB (can't tell if this replaces old model or not) sells for $499

    2. custom laser engraving ??? You can have a message or something custom engraved on the back of the ipod. Ok...

    3. now they contact info like address and so forth official supported.

Sounds okay, though Apple's pricing needs a serious retooling. I guess the custom engraving thing might go over well in Japan. Apple sure knows how to put itself into the uppermost of the upper niches, though huh?

Damn, The Japanese guy is reporting the same as above.

When did they try this last time ?

Remember when they had to downgrade the G4 machines by 50 Mhz and wanted to keep the old prices ?

    There was an outrage...

Everybody order at third-party resellers right now if you want your iMac at current prices

I guess everyone will raise prices by tomorrow.

It is a $100 price increase only, on all models. Orders at the old price will be honored...

Unbelievable. Steve Jobs has lost it. And he says he wants to double Apple's marketshare. Riiiight, increasing prices will do it.

Actually, Apple has posted more than a few operational losses. Returns on that $4B war chest have been the only thing keeping Apple's quarterly reports in the black for the past several quarters.

Apple is barely making any money at all on the new iMacs. I don't doubt that they're raising the price in order to avoid selling them all at a loss.

Just as bad as when he lowered the G4 speed and kept the price.
