Samsung making fun of the customers of a company that they slavishly copied... as if the customers don't enjoy the real thing or appreciate Apple's high quality.

Actually I think it's a good commercial. I still can't stand Sammy though.

Who the hell types an email or text while watching video? And why would they? Maybe I don't have cool or enough friends, but why would I want to share a playlist and is that truly such a critical thing? Guess I don't get it.

    Samsung,

You keep trying. You can't say you're awesome while being lame.

Yes the S3 screen is bigger. Lots of people don't want a screen/phone that big.

Lots of people don't want quirky interfaces that try to copy Apple's.

No one waits in line for the S3. There's plenty of reasons.

Apple's design is cleaner than yours. Lots of people like good design.

Of course Apple isn't perfect, but maybe if you tried to do your own thing rather than follow Apple, you wouldn't end up paying a billion dollars for it.

Quit pointing fingers and start thinking for yourself. You'll be more original and save money in the long run.

    Sincerely,
    A non-customer

Maybe Samsung is just copying the trolls.

But, yes, I've never seen such a transparent astroturfing campaign, of such poor quality.

Yes, the best phone is like pornography, they can't tell you exactly what it is, but they know it when they see it.

    There's a big difference.

In the "I'm a Mac" ads, Apple is comparing PRODUCTS and pointing out why their product is superior.

In Samsung's ads, Samsung is making fun of the USERS.

In doing so, Gruber is right. Samsung has basically admitted that they don't have any significant hope of converting iPhone users to Samsung because their products are not compelling enough, so they're feeding on the Apple haters out there.

Furthermore, in Apple's case, they were a tiny player in the market who many people would not even consider, so comparing themselves to the market leader makes sense. In Samsung's case, they sell more phones than Apple, so the situation is entirely different. This series of anti-Apple ads fits in with the Samsung documents produced during the CA trial. Samsung is fixated on Apple. The seem to be incapable of doing anything without considering what Apple would do or making Apple a part of their strategy. It's as if every employee of the company were given a wrist band which said "WWAD". Unfortunately, they don't understand Apple or how Apple succeeds, so their actions produce lame, inferior copies of Apple products rather than doing what Apple would actually do (innovating and producing something unique with a focus on the consumer). Even this ad is a lame copy showing that they don't get it (see above).

Let me qualify by saying I use an iPhone and Galaxy Note equally.

If one cannot see the hilarity of this ad, they're truly an Apple fanboy, and Vice versa, if one thinks that Apple users are pathetic, you're just a fandroid.

The headphone jack is on the bottom *mind blown*

Each of these phones are great in their own respect and each of these phones have serious shortcomings. I for one will never be an apologist for either since I can look at both and say the lack of 'x' sucks but this inclusion of 'y' is awesome... Not "well Apple knows best and that why they didn't add function X".

I almost switched myself. But why make fun of people who might buy your other products? They've left such a bad taste in my mouth that I won't even look at a Samsung TV or whatever.

Samsung is taking the low road... Their ads are like political ads! Not what I can do for you, but how bad can I knock the other guy!
Negative advertising is such a turn off. I guess the next time I'm in the market for a container ship, I'll skip Samsung.

The thing political ads work because people are by and large ignorant about the finer details of politics. This is probably even more so with the finer points of technology.

A couple examples are the Samsung phone having an even larger display as if that is technology Samsung has mastered and not simply a marketing technique used because they couldn't sell against Apple on equal ground and that they can't make a phone as compact as Apple and still have equatable performance. It ignores that these phones are handy pretty bad as being pocketable, one-handed devices.

Same goes for their LTE claims. Sure, Samsung phone had LTE before the iPhone, but only in very large, heavy phones because the chips were large and the batteries had to be larger and yet they still have poor battery life. I didn't expect Apple to have the first LTE phone with 3G data usage times equal to LTE but I expected them to only bring out LTE when it was feasible, as in making the user experience better for it.

Samsung et al. only have buzzwords to market. Samsung is very good at it when you consider their actual competition — everyone but Apple — but it's still a rate fiddle compared to Apple. This is where the buyer should beware because their ads aren't accurate but they aren't lying. This is a case of Samsung telling the truth, but not the whole truth... but that's certainly allowed.

Sounds like the presidential campaign going on now.  According to your rules, both our presidential candidates are failures...  Much prayer needed for this nation.

I feel the ad was not targeting someone who's waiting in line.  Those who wait in line will not buy a GSIII because of the ad.

The ad is more targeted toward people who are thinking about getting a smartphone.  By now everyone knows about iphone and Samsung wants to use this ad to make people who are getting a smarphone to check out GSIII as another option.  iphone doesn't need something like this because it sells itself.  Even the carriers are not pushing for iphone because it's less profitable than android phone.

Because ATT can still make more on GSIII accounts than iphone accounts even after the $100 rebate for GSIII.  ATT is going for profit, it doesn't care about GSIII or iphone.  It'll sell the ones which give the most profit.

I think you're right and if you watch carefully you can see who this ad is targeting - and its the young (guy was saving a place in line for his folks) male perspective Android users and it does this by reinforcing the herd Android view of iPhone users as old, out of touch, maybe not so smart and definately not cool (remember how important it is to not appear uncool when you're in those tween and young teen years...you need to get a Samsung the ad says)...They're not after iPhone users at all in these ads (or only very marginally).

I have to say, I hadn't seen any of the previous Samsung ads and Apple user that I am, I was laughing throughout most of the ad...Whoever put it together for them did a great job imposing  a Android vs iPhone stamp on the old Apple Mac ads of years ago (before Mac vs PC, but comparing Macs to PC's), they did it very well with the pacing, the music, the lost look of the "uncool" users, I'm still chuckling thinking about it.  It was funny.  Really, an excellent copy of those old ads, which in the end, considering the company buying the ads, is totally appropriate (Samsung copying Apple).  :-)

Those fanatics in a lines know exactly what they want, this a part of their apple-fan-culture and this dumb ad just is an insult to a people, tasteless amateur effort to look stupid. This reminds me car salesmen. When I called and asked when model I want will be released he tried to sell whatever was in a stock. He called few times later until I raged: why don't you f***g understand ( copyright Christopher Bale) I want THIS model.

Then why is the price for high-end Android phones the same as the iPhone? Sounds like they make less money.

Because the subsidy is less, so they make more on equally priced phones.
