I, for one, am really happy Samsung revealed their watch before apple. So, by the time apple releases theirs, Samsung will be seen for the copycats they are. But then again, lots of people will praise them for the price drop and because "it was natural evolution".

I don't know if apple did it on purpose to wait for Samsung to do the first move. But I'm happy they did, and it takes a ton of guts.
Wait... Do your product right, don't care about the apocalyptic press and the pseudo bold competitors. Follow your own agenda. It takes a lot of confidence...

Long story short: this watch will NOT SELL! Apple will release one next year, Samsung will copy it and the crow will go wild because it is "so cool not to like apple" and buy it in droves.
But apple will still make a profit and sell fantastically.

Just one side note: Samsung and Apple will have to sell a ton of wearable to get the same money as they do on phones if the prices are these.

For the people complaining about the visible screws.. Look Hublot watches, which are the coolest trend in watches right now. Samsung copied their screw design (they have that habit...). Screws are the only hint of "cool" they tried to bake into the phone... Showing the current weather for the actual location? Why not just write "oh, look up and figure it out yourself"...

If they do, it will be because camera lens technology has sufficiently advanced so that 4k can actually contribute to image quality, and/or phone storage/cloud bandwidth have become sufficient to handle huge video files.

Apple users have had years to grow accustom to your type-- PC users could be relied on to bray about specs and haunt Apple boards (on account of being pathetic and all).  Now Android is the new refuge for platform twats to gobble on about screen sizes and multi-giga and my number is bigger than yours.  But of course you have to go out of your way to seek out Apple users to spray Cheetos crumbs on, because just liking what you have isn't enough, is it?  You have to beat someone, because God knows you probably don't get many opportunities to do that in day to day life.

Actually, I think an iWatch might be a product I'd be interested in. It would need to

    1) allow me to see what's coming into my phone without removing latter from my pocket

    2) maybe act as speakerphone for smartphone for when I'm driving or otherwise can't get phone out of pocket easily

    3) possibly have biometric sensors

    4) and definitely have better battery life and _much_ better styling

I was also thinking more along the lines of $150-200...not $300 for the opportunity to look like a dork with a smartphone taped top my wrist like this Samsung POS...

They're kidding right? Their first idea must have been a smart headband with an optional wrist mirror.

Regarding technological advances.  The Note 3 has advanced to the point of making 4K a reality.  The iPhone will get there as well, you can count on that.

Regarding your personal attacks.  Do you need a hug?  You need a hug.

Explain the point of a 4K screen on a phone. Explain the reason Apple would do something as stupid as putting a 4K display on a phone.

Apple will eventually have 4K support and output of content on the iPhone, sure, but screen? No.

Then Apple is copying Pebble? Pebble was first, or one of the first, to market. There were NO iWatch rumors prior to Pebble.

There were smart watches based on Microsoft's Smart Personal Object Technology (SPOT), released in 2004.

Never gained any popularity, but they were there long before Pebble.

Yes, but look at the "specs"!  It's all about "specs"!
    And Sammy was FIRST!
Nevermind that they are clueless when it comes to style until they have someone to COPY.

No they weren't first. There have been several smart watches out for a while now.

He's talking about the camera being able to record 4k. A 4K screen would be ridiculously wasteful.

That's not a consideration. Content has to be available first.

Ah, then that makes sense. Not for years, no, and not until H.265 at LEAST is available on all Apple products. We're something like half an order of magnitude away from making this feasible in terms of storage space, too. 4K is huge, and single to four terabyte hard drives just don't cut it.

Wow! That "Smart" watch is Uber-ugly, fugly!!!! Clearly Samsung did not have men in mind as it appears to look too feminine. I know Apple can do much better at design, can't wait for Apple to trump this garbage.

Now we can see what Samsung is capable of without Apple to inspire them...

Who in their right mind is going to take phone calls through a watch? That's got to be worse than the bluetooth headset army.

Sorry Samsung, once you go Swiss give Koreans a miss.

One more thing, what's in this picture would buy twenty or so of your crappy products.

Just like all the other industries and products it reinvented, Apple will release such a product when its confident it will be a game-changer, and that consumers will flock to buy it.

    Warning, painful to watch.

Computers tend to adopt higher resolution first because it not depend much about content. I still remember my 1920x1200 ElectronBlue CRT I used more than 15 years ago. Still I agree with you,  this doesn't apply to mobile devices who are more content consuming centric.

One cool thing about the chip being able to encode 4K video is that it can handle the bandwidth of recording 1080p video at 60 fps.  That doesn't sound quite as sexy as 4K on a spec sheet, but that's how I'd use it.

why nothing has been said about its fingerprint sensor?

I can't see it on its front face, is it on the back of the phone?

    Because it doesn't exist.
