Who cares about the incremental iPad updates...it's time for a mature AppleTV to be introduced.
The box I mean, not a real TV...never saw the point in that.
Agreed- that would be the "one more thing". It will be either white and circular or black and doughnut shaped.
A doughnut isn't circular? Why do you think it'll be round? There's no fan in the box, might ads well keep the same FF and improve on the internals, instead of waisting time & money on it' looks. Or do you look at the box instead of looking at your TV?
Although I do want a lighter iPad with a smaller bezel, I'm really hoping for a new Apple TV announcement. Out of curiosity, what do you want in a new Apple TV? My biggest want is the ability to download apps, although I do wonder if Apple would release an Apple TV with a hard drive again.
HDD? That is soooo 1954. And wy would you want apps to be on that box? We have touchscreen devices for that.
People forget what Apple events were like pre-iPhone. Overlong business updates, tedious demonstrations of iLife and iWork (Jobs would rotate an image and everyone would cheer), incremental Mac and iPod updates. Macs had the same design for years. Many years would pass between OS X updates that had fewer changes than the yearly updates we get now. Every time we thought we were going to get a phone, we got a Boombox or a sock to put our iPod in instead. There were a lot of duds in the Jobs era: fat iPod, buttonless iPod nano, desk lamp iMac. They've gotten way more interesting in recent years. Now we actually get things we want!
I wouldn't want to call the products Steve introduced boring or anything like that. At all. They were really nice improvements, evolutionary and sometimes groundbreaking. And when not looking at the products, it was his flamboyant-ism that really set the keynotes apart.
'Gotta hit the checkbox' & 'NTLM, whatever that is' are epic moments, in my opinion.
Strange. Everybody is talking about 'machines'. Just me interested in software? What about Finalcut &. CO, Aperture, iLife, iWork? Will there ever be new versions? Personally I believe it is about time.

I don't use iLife. Hardly use iWork, so can't comment on that. Aperture I use almost daily, and while there is always room for improvement it's also the cheapest product as we haven't had a paid upgrade in 3 1/2 years we have been getting upgrades, further refining the software.
FCPX is pretty much the same, little over 2 years old and free upgrades with vast amount of added features, all for free.
Would you rather have them increment the products' version numbers, and charge you for it? No ¿ here, just a ?
If there isn't a retina display mini announcement apple shouldn't even bother to hold the event.
Especially if the full size iPad update is just updated internals in a mini like form factor. I hope Apple has something special planned. Redesigned apps or 4K displays, just something people might not have expected.
I'm not 100% sure but aren't the Mac Pros manufactured in the USA and if so, perhaps that might also explain the better kept secrets?
"Assembled in the USA"
Most of the leaks are component leaks, and any such Mac Pro component leaks would originate from the same supposed sources around the globe.
Back on topic, I’m looking forward to an iPad update. My iPad 2 has served me well, but it’s time for an update. Here’s hoping they add some awesome new feature that hasn't been, um, leaked yet.

Agreed.
I really want a multi-threaded version of Pages. I love Pages but it is inclined to slowdowns in graphics-heavy documents: screen updates slow down but only one core of the MacBook is busy (100% utilised), the rest are pretty much idling. Using Grand Central Despatch or whatever would count as keeping up with Apple's latest technologies just like a retina/4" screen update does for an iOS app.

You are so right. The alternative is the Adobe Model ... no need to elaborate there!
But I also agree it's time for some leaps in the iWorks and iLife products, they are what most folks use, we Aperture and FPX types are not the main stream I suspect.
Edit: Almost every time I edit a post on AI, Safari crashes ... no other web site I use does this! This is using 10.9 GM and Safari Version 7.0 (9537.71)

I am sorry you felt I was off topic. The paragraph: "In addition to new iPads, the event in two weeks is also expected to focus on the company's revamped Mac Pro high-end desktop, and the forthcoming OS X Mavericks operating system update." and subsequent comments about the Mac Pro seemed just as on topic as all the iOS product chat. I'm glad your iPad is important to you, but some of us also look forward to a new Mac Pro and like the rare mention in a post even if it is only such a small reference some people apparently don't even notice it.
I think it is just you (and the other negative people). The way I see it, Apple will show us the premier, state-of-the-art tablet. It will be the best tablet on the market for the next 12 months. If you care about technology and tablets, this should be an interesting presentation. You don't think there's somewhere else to go to see next year's tablet do you? Microsoft? Samsung? Remember, they present theirs after Apple, not before. Yes, the presentations are professional and business like. But it's still the first place you get to see the future.
(Do you think both Microsoft and Samsung will be interested? ;=)
And I'd add the real present rather than the speculative one. Until it's announced buy Apple it's all some level of guess.

1) I'd rather have 'goes through it like butter' over '2GB of RAM' any day.
2) What are you running, and on what? Me: 7 on a 3, and Safari does need to reload tabs, but it never crashes.

I have to agree with the long in the tooth comments. OK, a new iPad, it's not game changing anymore.
And why is Apple the one that must change the game? Having the best product on every category they are in isn't enough?
you are pathetic and ignorant, rob.
If there isn't a retina display mini announcement apple shouldn't even bother to hold the event.

I'm running iOS 6 on 3rd gen iPad. Tab reloads on Safari all the time. Incredibly annoying.

Then the obvious answer if they need a hologram of Steve doing it.

The fact that the Mac Pro wasn't in the manufacturing pipeline when it was announced has a lot to do with that as well.
my guess is the event is going to be very game-centric. My guess is the invites will hint at gaming.
Well, A7X; that wasn’t disclosed. The thinner side bezels, battery capacity, speakers…

Is it just me, or are these events getting very, very long in the tooth?
Just one more "One more thing..." would reinvigorate the masses. As it is, these are old, predictable, and outright dull.
Well maybe they'll hire strippers (or at least out of work theater eye candy) like Sammy did for that Manhattan launch fizzle.
Innovate!

Can't buy and use vaporware.
