Sorry, “usable as a tablet”. How’s that?

Shut up. A watch is a “phone” in the same way that something with a 5.5” screen is a “phone”: not at all.

Samsung was ridiculized on this pages for introducing a 7" tablet, now the 7" iPad is a best-selling product.

A 5" iPhone, possibly with a nearly edge-to-edge screen, in my opinion would be the new best-selling product.

    You just contradicted yourself:
    1. Smaller screen = best-selling product
    2. Therefore larger screen = best selling product

    2) Apple needs to get over waning the top and bottom bezels to be the same size for symmetry if they are going to continue to use a Home Button on the front.

    3) Didn't Tim Cook state, within the last few months, that Apple is looking into a larger iPhone but the technology isn't yet ready?

Maybe they can put the camera behind the screen like Samsung does, then have lower quality pictures or a lump to get more distance between the lens and the sensor.

An example was that shitty selfie that Ellen took at the academy awards where the quality dropped markedly away from the centre of the picture.

There is a reason Apple does things the way they do, not that their designers are any good or anything, right?

I neither saw that pic of Musk or knew Samsung had such a product on the market.

I think that 3.5 inches is the perfect size.

Depending on what you're talking about, there is no perfect size. By the way, welcome to 2007.

Apple don't need such amateur niches.

Not one of these analysts can present Android sales figures broken down by screen size, not one.

One thing is for certain the most popular screen size is the 5c/5s screen size based on the simple fact that these are the biggest selling phone models.

Uh huh. Apple doesn't want to sell an extra 20-30 million phones... phones that might otherwise be Samsung.

Sure. I'll go along with that.

    Makes sense to analysts.

Users are switching from Apple to Android/Windows based phones and it's happening more and more... And the no.1 reason is display size. I've seen it done by some friends and lot's of business partners/co-workers, who said they are never going back to smaller 'iPhone' screen sizes once they jumped on bigger Androids. Even I am thinking doing it, if the iPhone 6 doesn't come out soon and has at list 4.5 if not 5 inch display!

Count me among the silent masses that don't want a larger smartphone.

Just because about 20% of iPhone owners will chose the larger size doesn't mean Apple should make it. It's about having some choice. It's just like the iPad. And the MacBook Air. And the iMac. And iPods. The iPhone will prove to be just like that over the next year. And somehow you'll still manage to sleep at night.

Come October: Apple fails to release larger screen iPhone, AAPL falls, Apple is doomed! The cycle repeats

I'd literally bet my life on Apple doing a larger iPhone option this year. I'm better on either 4.6 or 4.7".

I see people everyday I work switch from an iPhone to a Android device because of the the screen size. Does everyone want a larger screen? No. There are a ton of people who do though. I also see people switch from an Android device to an iPhone as well. Those people usually had one of the cheap Crappie Android phones though and get the free or cheapest iPhone. So that would make sense. There is a huge demand for a larger size as I've had people come back with the larger Android phone and say they'll never go back to a smaller size. Note that they didn't say they wouldn't get an iPhone again. Just that they'll never get a phone of a smaller size.

Quit bringing reality into this forum. Many people here such as Tallest live inside a distorted Apple bubble and like it that way.

Well millions of people use them very well as a tablet, and companies such as Apple keep making more. So, your opinion is a little different than others.

Funny how when I ask why people are switching to a larger screen size above 5", the most common answer is screen size. Once again, others have a different opinion than you. Another thing they say is that they want to get rid of having to carry two devices so the larger screen size fits the bill for them. All ages.

You're not right in what you're saying as people are different than you. Not everyone has to have the same thought process as you. If we did it would be a boring world.

Depends what you use your tablet for. If it's for watching movies/browsing the web I agree, 9.7 is a better size. But in terms of mobility and convenience, some people prefer to have the smaller form factor.

Ellen doesn't use a Samsung phone unless they pay her to. :)

According to you... which means exactly nothing. Telling people to shut up also means nothing... so basically you are nothing. Glad we got that out of the way.

Not personally holding out for a monstrously large screen. Or maybe freakishly is the right word.

The bigger issue is why the story is written this way:
Big-screen 'iPhone 6' predicted to drive massive upgrades, draw switchers from Android to Apple
    By Neil Hughes

If Apple were to launch a redesigned iPhone with a screen size around 5 inches this year, it would become the "motherlode of all upgrade cycles" for the company, helping to reaccelerate year over year growth, one analyst believes.
when it should be more like this
One analyst believes there is a demand for an iPhone with a larger screen and that such a device would both current iPhone users who want a larger screen and also attract Android users whose only reason to choose one over the other is screen size. IF Apple announced such a product, AND lots of Android users switched AND lots of iPhone users upgraded early THEN it COULD result in significant year over year growth. This would also setup the market to expect an even bigger screen the following year - which would then lead to crushing disappointment and predictions of Apple's doom when sales the following year fall far short of the number one analyst pull out of his arse - leading to a sharp decline in Apple stock price despite record setting profitability - providing an opportunity for the analyst and his buddies to snatch up Apple shares at artificially depressed prices
New smartphone screen sweet spot: 5". Apple may disappoint users again with 4.5" screen iPhone 6 to make them want more. I'm not surprised to see 4.5" 720p iPhone 6 at all. But if for God sake, Apple happens to release a 5" screen iPhone 6, it'll be a mother of all phones. Sale will be massive.

What phone has a screen larger than 5”?! How is that usable as a phone?
