So basically they ripped off a whole lot of Android features.
But you Andoid guys all said it was obvious! Can't have it both ways! Anyhow the patent system is broken and software is not protected anymore. hey I will start a new company and copy google's search algorythm and call it ""Screwggle"
Damn straight. If patents fail to protect Apple, there is no problem with Apple using their muscle to crush their rip-off competitors.
Wrt to patents, there are a few things I would like to point out
- Tech companies like Apple, MS, Google and others have got a lot of patents they did not deserve because there was prior art involved. Example: there was already a virtual keyboard on that Alcatel Onetouch Com, a internet enabled mobile phone launched in 1998, a few centuries before Apple started to think about the iPhone.
- It is not because one has a patent, that one sues. I am a chess player and it is common knowledge in chess that a threat is stronger than the execution of the threat. The fact that a company is currently is not sued for violating a patent, does not mean mean that that same company did not infringe a patent. It only means that the company that has the patent does not want to sue for the moment. Any other conclusion is a false one. Feel free to fill in the company names as you like
However it is quite amusing to see that there are Apple fan boys who absolutely don't need a feature X as long as it is not in iOS version Y or OSX version Z, but suddenly it becones the coolest thing on earth when feature X appears in iOS Y+1 or OSX Z+1. Again feel free to fill in X,Y, Z as you like.
For the Fandroids in the thread, funny how the Android collective already want the way Apple is doing 'Android-first' supposed features. LOL! Just classic.
An Android fan site praising Apple and iOS. Whoda thunk it?
"...we are also capable of giving props when we see something cool or that we would like to see on Android at some point. I know, I know, you are probably wondering what I have been drinking over the last couple of hours, but hang with me for a second. You have to admit that Apple is really doing a great job at making all of the experiences seamless from iPhone to iPad to computer. They are also doing a pretty impressive job when it comes to making it easy to get in touch with or share things with the people you chat with the most."

Both Andy Ihnatko and Leo Laporte just admitted that if Apple also releases new larger iPhones, there is now nothing preventing them from dumping Android.

There really isn't. Both platforms offer much the same now. Get a larger display on the iPhone and for a lot of buyers it will be a toss up.
I have a developer account and can register your UDID for $10 on my account so you can install iOS 8. Send me an email to braydentyler0113@gmail.com and I'll give you more information.
Very happy to hear this news. I can't wait to get a keyboard that includes arrow keys. It can be so frustrating at times trying to edit words or navigate without arrow keys. I was quite the speed demon with Swype when I used Android years ago so I hope it is like riding a bike. A swipe keyboard along with arrows will make my life a lot easier when I need to use the keyboard. Of course a larger iPhone that allows for a physically larger keyboard space will also be a huge improvement.
Very cool of Apple to add these features into iOS. You all are going to love them (if you choose to use them). Gotta love choices!
I'll now let you all get back to your pissing contests about who did what first and which tech company is best.
I have really never cared who did what first. But Apple sure does a good job at doing things better. They might take their sweet time but when they finally choose to implement a feature it works and works well. So thanks for all the beta testing on Android, the golden master is almost here.
Swype has been available on Android for years. Then again you already know that seeing you posted in this thread. Android users are also asked for permission to access the network for additional features. Lets at least be honest.

Oh boy, here we go.
1. Doesn’t matter; you don’t comprehend this in the slightest.
2. Yeah, the pre 9/11 world seems pretty far away, huh.
Right. It’s because Apple uses its patents that they sue.
Again feel free to fill in X,Y, Z as you like.
Nah. How about YOU do it, so we can see just one example of these things you so readily assume are real.

ALL of these were available on Android since at least 2010.
Although none of those "features" actually exist in a device you can use until Google solves the malware problem.
The thing I am most looking forward to in iOS 8 is installing any keyboard that makes the dictation key less prone to activating unintentionally.

I think you forgot that android is a ripoff of iOS in total.
get your nose checked. then record the data in the Health app.
Your best post thus far.
Rude.
You're calling me 'rude'?

Sorry, no, blatant lie.
