Given recent events, they are WAY more trustworthy than the US government, by a long shot.
That's so funny, no Government is trustworthy they all spy! You trust a Govt that launches a missile at an unarmed airliner more than the US , you sir are deluding yourself imho. Imagine for a moment a country like say Nicaragua has a Govt we don't like and we started launching missiles at it from say CostaRica and "accidentally" hit say a commercial airliner oops . At least US military elite black ops units know the diff between an airliner and a military airplane, or do they?
Yes, absolutely - too bad the McCarthyist idiots around here still think Russia is "communist" and the US are the "good", "moral high ground" guys. Hypocrisy and double standards just stink, everywhere.
Yep, that's absolutely true. The commies are still the bad guys, and only idiots think that Russia is good.
Look at Putin, a KGB thug, shooting down civilian airliners and actively expanding Russia's borders, because they dream of the good old glory days, the commie days of the USSR.

No, they do NOT. If in doubt, feel free to ask the 290 souls murdered by a direct shot of the USS Vincennes against Iran Air flight 655. Not to mention the countless illegal military interventions by the US, covert or not, against dozens of countries in the last 50 years. WMDs in Iraq? How ludicrous was that?
Besides, has Russia directly launched a missile against the MH17? Where is the evidence/formal confirmation of guilt? And even if the stupid separatists did it; how is it any different from what other US-supported "rebel" groups do every now and then against civilian populations around the world? Or are you going to blame every weapons producer every time a "rebel" kills someone? Syria? Israel? Ukraine?
So in conclusion, can you jail Obama and his ilk for the 1000 civilians dead in Gaza over the last days? Virtually every weapon used is from the US, as you should know.
In this case you should thank the NSA for opening this huge can of worms (bag of hurt). If IOS, OSX, all Windows, and Android were, say Chinese, or Korean, or even Russian, and a similar revelation as the NSA spying was revealed, how much would you trust the aforementioned systems to run the government, business and personal computers of the USA? Not much I'd wager and you'd probably feel the request to peek at the source code was a fair request.
Its always interesting to turn the tables in the name of perspective. I'm not saying they will, or should cave, but perhaps that the request is not without merit and the burden needs to be on Apple et al's shoulders to prove their case.
You make a valid point. But you seem to assume there is some kind of political transparency equivalency between the Chinese and Russian systems and ours. For all our faults, I have far more trust in our system's potential to do right thing, and to correct itself when it doesn't, than theirs.
The US has lost countless cases before the WTO and nothing happens to them...WTO is the least of a country's concerns when it comes to respect of international law.
The US has paid fines and reached numerous settlements. Most notably over the Cuba embargo. In the end, of course, nothing much is going to happen to the US or any of the other prominent member nations. Without the US as a member the WTO has little value to the other members so little is going to be done to rock that boat. Russia, on the other hand, has more to gain from WTO membership and less to offer the other members so I would expect its behavior to come under scrutiny (which it already has) as part of the increasing level of international pressures and sanctions over Ukraine and just in general over its disregard for the organization's rules from day one.
That's so funny, no Government is trustworthy they all spy! You trust a Govt that launches a missile at an unarmed airliner more than the US , you sir are deluding yourself imho.
Do you honestly believe that they knew it was a unarmed airliner at the time? By the way the US has shot down unarmed airliners.
Imagine for a moment a country like say Nicaragua has a Govt we don't like and we started launching missiles at it from say CostaRica and "accidentally" hit say a commercial airliner oops . At least US military elite black ops units know the diff between an airliner and a military airplane, or do they?
You need to check your history here. People screw up all the time. The only difference is that in the military a screw up is obvious and often takes many lives with it.
In case you are wondering the US shot down an Iranian air liner a few years back. There is a good arguement that they deserved it but the reality is it was a screw up.
By the way this in no way indicates that what Russia is doing in the Ukraine is right. Rather it is a total rejection of your position that the aircraft was shot down on purpose and that civilian air liner was in fact targeted.

Less hypocrisy, please.
Please let's not bring Israel into this.
For one Israel is fully capable of building their own weapons.
Second there isn't a people on the entire earth more deserving of what the people supporting HAMAS are getting right now. It would do the world a whole lot of good if Israel totally wiped out HAMAS and it's supporters.

You're absolutely right from a practical standpoint - however, I was mainly referring to clear violations of WTO commitments as ruled by its DSB against the US (particularly for illegal subsidies, technical barriers to trade and so on against many large economies). The end result? Public international law ONLY works to the extent countries accept to apply it; the fact that Russia is now the main target only adds to such a hypocrisy.
Given recent events, they are WAY more trustworthy than the US government, by a long shot.
I wouldn't count on that. Perhaps other governments' spying transgressions don't hit the worldwide news quite so readily. When you control the media, where is the whistleblower going to tell his tale (without getting shot and killed)?
Just because the weapons are US made, doesn't make it our responsibility. When you purchase something, it's yours. What you do with it is your responsibility. In the case of Israel, they have US-made F16 fighters. So what? They had the money to purchase them. What they use them for is up to them. Gaza has Russian made equipment. So what? I'm not blaming Russia for the rockets being launched at Israel anymore than I'm blaming the US for rockets being fired into Gaza.
I'm not sure what world you live in where you get to blame the seller or manufacturer of a product for what it does. Are you Russian by chance?
For one Israel is fully capable of building their own weapons.

Of course not; to criticize them in a predominantly US-populated forum is always heresy, not to mention the always-easy trigger of "anti-semitism".
In any case, tell that to the thousands of civilians murdered by US weapons in the illegally occupied territories - and to be clear: Israel has never developed ANYTHING without blatant arms "contributions" from France and the US since its inception.

Thank you. So don't blame Russia for any weapons provided to ethnic Russians currently under attack by the Kiev junta...just like you have always done with "friendly" groups all over the world, Al Qaeda included.
No, they do NOT. If in doubt, feel free to ask the 290 souls murdered by a direct shot of the USS Vincennes against Iran Air flight 655. The missile system magically moved from Russia to the rebels before the attack and then magically moved back to Russia afterwards.
Tell Hamas to stop being cowards and using children as human shields. Hamas = hiding among mosques and schools.

Yeah.. Good luck with that.
This is what happens when you let Putin look at something…
Yeah, I remember reading about that a while back.
That is some straight up thug and mafia behavior right there.

Waitin' for AAPL > 100 ..
Keepin' up with tech on AI and other forums ...
While listenin' to great old records that I haven't heard in years ...
I finally broke down and bought a USB turntable for the Mac!
We have about 350-400 old records -- mostly 33's, but some 45's and even a few 78s.
Never could justify rebuying these on iTunes -- just checked and it would cost about $10 each to buy these on the average,
But now, I can play them, enjoy them, record them and iTunes match them ...
