Here's an interview talking about a few developers' experiences working with Samsung's VR headset.

    In summary,

    1) Development for Android sucks due to the lack of native code (and the existing code isn't very intuitive).

    2) You face a ton of constraints on a mobile device, from battery drain to resource consumption. Good luck running more than a few minutes without your Note4 melting.

I foresee the VR headset being Samsung's next dud, from lack of developer support to a poor user experience overall.

A new crowd of wall-huggers. Too funny for words !

The sheer level of repeated, almost forced, marketing assumptions was beyond disgusting. As the product really has NOTHING new to offer they filled an entire session with complete nonsense! And WTF was up with that dumb British blonde constantly calling it glamorous and beautiful and asking if she could put cat photos on it? image And you KNOW they've screwed themselves if a headline "feature" in your keynote is lock screen wallpapers! HOLY $@%%^}*&$@ CHRIST! I think my favourite part was the presenters almost having to subconsciously BEG the audience to clap, because the place was as quiet as a morgue.

I think Brian White was spot on, an amazing feat for a Wall Street analyst, that Apple has NOTHING to worry about, and that Samsung is gonna be pissing itself when it sees the crash of their sales over the upcoming holiday quarter!

    My thoughts exactly.

Says the paid Samsung sheep who only has a 34 post count since 2010, and in the first paragraph insults Apple users, GTFO!

Moderator question:- is it an "ad hominem" attack if the target is actually a goat?

Mike Elgan at TWiT ripped Samsung a new moon crater over their VR headset. He bemoaned the fact that it relies on their Galaxy phone, versus a dedicated display.

Do you have a link to that article by Mike Elgan? I checked the TWiT site and couldn't find it...

I am surprised the keynote didn't put more emphasis on the VR headset, or showcase its features more. This speaks volumes about Samsung's sincerity about promoting it - it's really little more than just another tick off a spec sheet.

You also have a piece of hardware which works only with one of your many phone designs. What do you think the uptake for that will be?

When Apple wants to promote their devices as a gaming platform, they actually create their own programming language to aid developers' efforts in supporting it.

That's what I love about Apple. When they want to do things, they are not afraid to throw the full weight of their ecosystem behind it. They don't half-arse it.

Of course I believe it! and I'm a former iPhone user. My first smartphone was an iPhone 3G and I got a 4 and 5 at launch respectively. Then I switched to a Galaxy S4 last year, and currently have a Galaxy S5. Loving Android! I waited for Android to mature. I'll be honest, Android was garbage up to 2012.

Well, loving the money they pay you to say that, at least.

News flash for you, Android is still garbage in 2014, especially the OEM-bastardized versions of it, with the worst being your precious Band-Aid 5...

Having had the unfortunate pleasure of being forced to help someone with their brand-new Band-Aid 5 because they couldn't figure out how to make it work with some of our enterprise systems (it doesn't support certain functionality that iOS, WP and BB all support natively), I know just how horrific the freaking thing is. Anyone that claims they have this POS and are "loving Android" have no respect in my eyes, as it demonstrates a complete lack of taste, and basically not giving a sh_t.

Like TS said, I wonder how much Samsung is paying you...

They didn't say much because it was only a mockup of what will might come soon someday at a price to be announced at some unannounced date maybe.

You just love Android because of all the free malware you get... and you don't even have to go look for it!
