Thanks!!! I finally figured it out that I'm the one who is dumb...printed using that 100% scale, the outline now matches my 5S. The 6+ is way too huge for me. I dedicate my front right pants pocket to my phone and the 6+ is way too big. When I want a larger screen I just pull out my iPad.
I really wish they'd offer a 4" version, the new 4"7 seems too big based on the cut out. Can't think why anyone would seriously want the 6 plus, just buy an iPad if you want a device with a huge screen.
Thanks! I did a make shift of the same last night. The Plus has some features I'm interested in, but the size? Too big for me. I am still struggling, but thinking the iPhone 6 for me this time.
As a side note, my wife decided that for now, she'd just take my 5 (coming from a 4S). So we are moving to the Verizon Edge plan. Worst case I get the 6 now, and if I decide the 6 Plus is the way to go, I can easily get the 6S Plus next year and give her the 6.
I think I'm going to do the opposite. Get the new 6+ and give it my wife, take her 5S and retire my 5 to kid duty.
She carries hers in her purse anyway and she likes taking pictures so her having the better camera is better. Then when her account allows for a renewal I'll decide if I want the 6S or 6S+ for myself.

The new 4.7 is not much bigger than my 4 with a relatively slim case (tech21). The phone is a little bit thinner so it's probably a wash.
I wonder how much they researched market demand--I'm sure there were lots of people who wanted bigger screens, but I suspect there are also lots of less vocal people who, like myself, preferred the existing form factors.
I think Apple knows what it's doing in terms of demand. Its not as if going to the engineering trouble of bringing out two gorgeous larger format phones was a rash knee-jerk reactions to a few vocal pundits. They waited a long time and the mere fact that Apple has brought these phones to market will in itself help make the larger sizes more acceptable and therefore increase demand. But I doubt the 'old' size will disappear, all of a sudden, so no worries for you.

I thought I vastly preferred the smaller size, and have been rather vocal about that in the past.
But I now commute on a bus and no longer drive so I have a lot more free time for browsing/using my devcies. My iPhone 4s is too small, my full size iPad way too big. I had been eyeing the iPad Mini, but the rumors of the iPhone 6 intrigued me so I held off.
With the announced dimensions of the iPhone 6 Plus out there yesterday, I created a cardboard mockup = two cutouts together replicated the thickness perfectly. I had it in my pants pocket yesterday and now today and so far I hardly notice it. Actually since the 6 Plus weighs less than my 4s I suspect I will notice it less than my 4s from the lighter weight more than anything else.
I went from what I thought was completely uninterested last year to a strong possibility of me preordering a plus Friday. If the rest of today and tomorrow goes well with my mockup I'm in. I may tape some change inside my mockup to get a better feeling for the weight, but I honestly don't see that as being an issue.

But I'm coming from a 4S and already thought the iPhone 5 was a bit larger than I wanted. Perhaps I am now in the minority, but I like the 3.5" size and am annoyed that one handed operation is now all but killed off without using special gestures etc.
Going back and forth between the 6 and 6+, which surprises me - I had already said a 5.5 inch phone is too much. Now I'm wavering.
Make a mock up. Two pieces from the average cardboard shipping box (like those ubiquitous boxes I get from Amazon) match the thickness pretty closely, and if you have a ruler and some scissors you can cut out two rectangles that match the dimensions provided.
I'm glad I did - once I had it and put it in my pocket I discovered it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Part of my dislike for the larger form factor was a work provided Android phone (Motorola something or other) - but that phone is THREE TIMES THICKER than the 6 Plus. That makes a huge difference...

Yeah I was sure it would be the 6 for me based on size, as 4.7-5.0 is my preferred size, but the native OIS, 1080 resolution, and better battery life make it a 6+ for me. The UI improvements in horizontal are an extra perk.

I'm more likely to use Apple pay but eh.

I do that too but I find that the phone gets a bit linty. I would hate getting a holster but it would probably be better for the phone.

I got this one, Frosty.
But it’s not waterproof…

For anyone who own a tablet like the iPad, why in the hell would you want the 6 ? You ever see how dumb it looks to hold one of those to your ear?
I do an AWFUL lot of things on my iPhone everyday. Holding it to my ear is not one of those things.
This was nice, printed it up and added some cardboard, going with the smaller 6 for sure.
If I carried a murse would go larger.

Haha, well played. I didn't have trouble with the 5 launch, was in at 3:05 (ET). Usually keep Apple and Verizon open just in case.

the 5S size is wrong. Too small on the printed version.
Just try one out in a store. You’ll come around.
I'm excited to read the first hands-on reviews of these paper models!
