Based on [@]Apple ][[/@]'s previous comments I'd say it's synonymous with liberal which is synonymous with anyone that thinks about societal issues past an area that extends further than their own dick.
anybody with the tiniest clue about Apple's business model knows they're all about making money off hardware. All software and services are designed to sell more hardware. Apple didn't design ?Pay to make a lot of money off of it, they designed it to make iPhones, iPads and ?Watches more desirable and thus increase sales of those devices. CurrentC isn't about providing the best user experience it's about merchants giving a big FU to the credit card companies, consumer UX and security be dammed.
Understanding why does not equal condoning it. There's nothing stopping CurrentC from cutting out the credit card companies' tax while simultaneously offering customers more convenience, privacy, and security. But as implemented, CurrentC choses to treat customers like captive animals: to be bagged, tagged, and studied. And by turning off NFC payment terminals, CVS/Rite Aid are not letting their customers choose between these payment options, so all that's going to happen is their customers will "chose with their feet." That has always been the case.
Agreed to a point. Rite-Aid and CVS have known that Apple Pay was coming and that it would work with their existing NFC terminals. They could have turned it off a month ago. By deliberately turning off their own existing payment infrastructure, they show a disrespect of their customers. I say to a point, because store loyalty cards are not going anywhere so retailers will still be able to offer you discounts and track your purchase behavior down to the item. Also, all the credit card companies will still be able to track your purchase behavior down to the store level. If you use anything other than cash only without a loyalty card, someone is tracking your behavior.
In this case, as I say, if they feel so confident that CurrentC is wonderful, they should couple that with dropping the acceptance of all credit cards. Since they won't do that, they are destined to fail, and may actually lose customers by not offering them a more convenient and secure way to use the credit cards that they will still accept.
You didn't read the thread that closely did you? You'd see that probably 85 posts were contrarian drivel about killing trees or being too lazy to scan receipts, all of which is Apple's fault.
Scanning receipts to be used to create tax write offs leaving more money in the consumers pockets to buy more crap. I'll give you the trees. Or maybe that is just a distraction from their original intent to post.
Walgreens here I come. I wonder how many people will take action to avoid retailers who block Apple pay.
Yeah I would agree with you, but I just found out Walgreens gives millions to the Republican party so...I think I'll stick with CVS and Duane Reade even after this and hope they come around and see the light.
Savvy corporations give large donations to both major political parties ...

p.s. and their action just now also killed PayPass/paywave transactions too as those rely on NFC.
How stupid can you get, when your "even better" system is not yet available.
They are afraid to "train" their customers now on a more convenient and secure system than the one they plan to implement. So instead of a lot of people boycotting their stores all at once in about a year, they'll settle for a slow migration away from their stores now in the hopes that people forget or get excited about their payment system in a year and come back. They placed themselves firmly between a rock and hard place for customer retention. Good luck with that.
OMG! That would be awesome!!! I hope they do block it!
Everyone here is complaining about CVS and Rite Aid removing the choice of Apple Pay for customers as being evil or greedy or stupid. So isn't Apple blocking that app from their devices the same thing as removing a choice for an Apple customer that might want to use CurrenC? It's Apple's right to do so just like it's CVS's right but don't you think you're all being total hypocrites?

Who is the hypocrite? Apple hasn't blocked their app. What are you talking about?
These Current C retailers are all getting killed by their competition, except for Walmart, and probably won't even be in business in 5 years. Blocking Apple Pay is the desperation of the doomed.
But of course Apple has made its deal with the devil we know - the banks. For its small piece of the action Apple is making sure their control of the credit card business remains intact. that is hardly noble, altho there is at least decent competition among them and more regulation about how they use their customer data. not enough, but more.

i don't see any heroes here.
And there won't be any heroes. Apple cannot change the payment world by itself. The best we can hope for is unintended consequences of Apple's disruption of the current system.
What the hell is wrong with you? I have not criticized Apple whatsoever. I merely stated I need printed receipts and that I'm am an environmentalist trying not to kill trees. What part of that do you have a problem with?
I realize this is only post 58 out of over 200 and that many others have probably put you in your place between the time this message was posted and the time of my reply - but I can't help but chime in on this idiotic thread. You didn't start out by saying "digital receipts won't work for me because I have to submit a hard copy for my taxes". You started by telling all of us that digital receipts are useless because WE would all have to print them out for OUR taxes!
And you're one hell of a hypocrite claiming to be an environmentalist and not realizing that YOU are the one insisting on paper!!! It's not a requirement of the tax office. It's a policy of your particular account which YOU choose to do business with - even though his particular policies are clearly not good for the environment.
Are you really as stupid as your posts make it seem? Or is this just some sort of act to get attention?

Hey ...
It could be taken as a compliment. Maybe he has a really big dick.
deep and poignant.
As human beings every single one of us consumes, consumes, consumes:
oxygen, water, food.
The day we stop is the day we're dead.
Therefore it's our fundamental nature to consume.

Try reading the comments. Many here are proposing that Apple block any retailers that do not support Apple Pay by blocking their apps.
Fixed!

Just give them false info. Change a single letter or number like I did. The feedback still goes through and they get worthless info on you.
