Tim Cook is a great CEO despite his sexual orientation. But, Apple is a "public" company and should not be used as a platform for his personal choices. I am surprised that Apple's board of director's would agree to allow him to use Apple's high profile status to spread his personal agenda. Current and future stock holder's might not agree with his personal choices. This subject matter could lead to the detriment of Apple's leading position in the tech world. Forget about Samsung, Google and Microsoft. Mr. Cook's "gay agenda" could negatively affect the stock price and the public's perception of Apple as a whole. Right or wrong, Mr. Cook's "personal life" should be kept personal.

The whole market is getting slammed. Don't look for rational explanations for stock market gyrations, it's almost entirely emotional and herd-like behavior.

Except Tim has been known to expect people's undivided devotion, be it that they work weekends and nights, or answer 3AM emails, or drop everything and go to China, and other things. That's not fair for him to demand that of lower employees and then not be as focused himself.
Tim Cook expects undivided attention when appropriate. He's also extended Apple's Thanksgiving break for the last several years. I think its reasonable to assume that his understanding of what's best for Apple is different from yours. Your presumption that he's not focused is yours, and it's based on a dearth of knowledge of Apple's situation. It's not fair for you to demand that Tim ignore his experience to share your ignorance.

Heck, I was fine with his statement about ROI this year (people all seemed to take that as "Global warming deniers, get out of the stock", but I took it as "if ROI is the only thing that matters to you, get out of the stock"). Agreed. Apple is in fact the exact opposite platform. They eliminate all the noise factors and focus on the requirements of the position. They are 'equal' in that they don't consider anything outside of the job to be done. They don't market to a demographic. And their hiring practices, as Tim pointed out earlier, are good, but could be less myopic (you tend to hire people like yourself, so minorities and females are underrepresented at Apple). They usually walk their walk and do little talking about it, and if someone challenges them on stuff like human rights, they don't work off 'talking points,' they research the issue and create a succinct, direct answer to the problem.

Steve Job's committed his life to the success of Apple as the best tech company in the world. He rarely if ever spoke about his "personal life". I think Tim Cook should follow his lead and concentrate on the continued success of Apple.
