Yes, the very authentic looking tape on the front and back make it very belivable
If you pause it at 28 seconds, you can clearly read the text on the back tape. (which is two strips, something out of a label maker?):
Warning this device is not approved by
FCC and other agencies

by unauthorized persons
Wouldn't it say "not approved by the FCC"? Also, You can clearly see the handspring logo on the back.
On the front, you can see two pieces of tape. The one on the left contains nothing (just covering the hand spring logo?) The one on the right reads:
AAZ-266609
The tape it is on goes over the edge a bit (covering part of the screen), and the tape on the left is cut at a diagnol. All seems odd to me.
The "logo" at the start of the display, if you step around the 5th second, you can see it was "aftereffected" on. If you step through, you can see the palm and hand turn a bit (twitch) but the logo and hello stay still (it is once they start fadding out). Maybe it is artifacting, because the rest looks ok.
iNew? Common, at least call it iNewt or iNewton or iLeibnitz (ha, calc joke).
On this one, we never see the interface. This one is black and white. This one sees no user interaction with the interface.
Also, if you go to about the 28th second, if you look in the TV screen, you can make out the camera, and that someone is holding it Now if only I had the CSI tech, and I could zoom in and keep it clear, we could find out who this "faker" is.

Here's a more detailed picture of the guy holding the camera:
And all these funny theories on how I've done it...

Well, in the vid where it actually does something interesting the Palm is static and could easily be connected. We are looking at two different things in the two videos. (I can't belive I'm doing this)
He's not driving.

Actually you are right. However, it looks lke he has removed the door handle from the car, so I am assuming that it is his car (or else he is damaging someone elses car...). If we assume it is his, then he probably drives stick.
1) Take the second video (the one showing the system preferences, the calculator and the apple menu).
2) Go through it frame by frame using the right cursor key on your keyboard while in "pause" mode.
3) Go to the point where the first menu pops up and see the cursor moving towards the screen's surface in the frames before
4) Go to the next frame - attention: See the cursor *still* moving towards the screen's surface in the next frame and finally hitting it one or two frames *after* (!) the menu has opened.
Well, either that prototype is equipped with a kind of mental interface that can read the user's thoughts (which would make the pen pointless), or this should finally prove it
FAKE
I don't dare to try to explain how they did it (I'd welcome an explaination, though). I don't think I can give any better guess than the ones already posted here - but they appearantly used the same kind of technology for the "iNew"-video.
Anyway: Now is the time Apple should get nervous - they are showing some pictures in their newest video that are clearly under 10.2-NDA.
how hard could it be to fake a pda using os x "lite" all it would take is some time in after effects to layer the crap in, mess with the timing and i don't think it would be incredibly hard to fake soemthing like this at all.
Heck, i watched lord of the rings and saw a couple thousand people sword fighting in mordour, does that mean it's real? no.

My Aunt could have done better than this and she died over two years ago.
J
Do you mind posting some pics of the internals or at least pics of the sides, top and bottom while the device is on.
You guys have to admit that this is über-fun. I'm getting an HP Jornada soon and I'll try to make a fake video.
Er.. guys, its just a small touch screen running off a Mac... do it all the time in my line of biz (AV systems)

So where are the cables?
