Indeed. What comes to my mind was something the federal judge said in the original Microsoft antitrust trial, probably to give the MS attorneys an idea of how their case was going at the time. I'm paraphrasing only a bit: "When one finds oneself astride a horse that has died, the best strategy is to get off and find another, living horse. However, some have been tempted to advocate lashing two dead horses together for greater speed."
Ben Bajarin says Samsung wants Blackberry because of security, enterprise accounts, QNX for IoT/Cars and BBM. People can laugh but I'd rather Apple spent money on something like QNX than stupid Beats headphones.
Which is the better deal? Apple buying Beats for $3b or Samsung buying BlackBerry for $7b?
What in the world would Apple do with QNX or more wireless patents?
It may be a better fit for Samsung than Apple, although I honestly don't see how...unless Samsung is going to abandon Android for QNX, which is a real leap of faith.

u talk'ng about Apple?
Screen name should be "Trolltalk".
Hey, at least Samsung is now buying its innovations, instead of just stealing them.
This is primarily about getting out from under Google. Samsung needs to own it's OS if they want to make any money.
But wait, I thought Android and similar free OS's were supposed to be the best things ever!

Apple couldn't use QNX to generate future revenue? What happens when teens no longer thiink Beats are cool and move on to something else?

They'll buy them for the heath-monitoring, in-ear sensors that feed HealthKit and their Apple Watch.
BTW, BBY is now denying it is in talks with Samsung (says this story, dated by Google news as "2 minutes ago"):

And then Blackberry stock got smashed -12% when the rumor didn't pan out.

Yes... but you're not allowed to kill and eat eagles.
