Cutting off someone because of the phone they bought, sheesh.

I'm pretty sure that was tongue in cheek.

This just proves that Mr Chen has no clue why his company is no longer a success. If he thinks cross platform apps will solve his problem he loss in the internet world. To use his train analogy, as long as the wheel are are the same (i.e. the data transport level) it does not matter what rides upon the those wheels. It like making all the box card and other types of container all have to be the same when it really does not matter.

I think he knows very well.

The thing about his hiring is that he received $83 million. And they say that Cook is overpaid! Now, normally, when they bring in a turnaround specialist (and quite frankly, I don't believe that Chen really is one. He had good fortune once before, that's it), you give a good bonus, and a good salary, but the bulk of the compensation is stock.

That keeps him, or her, honest. Work hard, and be successful, and your stock will be worth a lot more.

But, he got all of his up front. That shows me that he didn't think this was going to work. Indeed, a few months ago he said that when he joined the company, he thought that he had a 50/50 chance of saving the company, but that now (as of the time of the statement), he had an 80% chance of pulling it off.

I wonder what that percentage is now?

Some of these posts seem to imply that the Messages app on iOS is some kind of "walled garden." That it's iMessage or no message. I text my non-iOS friends using SMS, and my iOS friends with iMessage using the same Messages app. Magic. The only bummer is that a group message seems to default to SMS if the is one or more non-iMessage people among the addressees.

Can you provide some details of Apple actually releasing these protocols?

I posted this to someone else, but I'll post it again.

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FaceTime#Standards

This is just a basic bit of info really, but it's enough. Move down to where it says "standards" within that, there is the info.

Because as we all know, the one thing Apple strives for in this world is market share...

That just says that they are using standard based technologies. But it doesn't confirmed that have released any of those specs to enable anyone else to implement it.

No, you haven't read it. Read it again. Believe me, if I say it's in there, it's in there.

You just never like believing anything positive about Apple.

If I tell you that Apple contributed one of the most important features to Unix and therefore, Linux, you won't believe me either, so I'll leave you to look that up for yourself, since you refuse to do any research of your own, have fun!

All but one of friends has an iPhone. Whenever we group chat, he gets lost with the conversation. It's funny that way.

Re 'Get better friends' ... I had to chuckle at that. My wife was berating me recently for trying to limit our friends to Apple using, well educated, scientifically minded people. A friend from the west coast who was there at the time suggested we leave Florida! LOL

Rumor has it that there are vacancies on all sides of Apple ]['s apartment in New York.

For a stupid person, Mr. Chen sure says dumb things.
Not really. Steve Jobs once said in his keynote about FaceTime to be an open standard for across flat forms. I can see the same for iMessage. However, I believe FaceTime and iMessage are too vital for iDevices and don't see Apple to make them open standard ever. I have to admit that there's no comparable ones from other flatforms vs FaceTime and iMessage in term of integration and seamless usability.

That's a good point. Apple never made it an industry standard, likely to entice people in getting an iPhone.

Same for FaceTime too, why isn't that on other operating systems, especially since it was released as an open standard /s.

I'd so love for Apple to open up iMessage and FaceTime by releasing those apps on Android. To be able to send iMessages to everyone (Android users would download iMessage) would make my usage of my Apple devices far more seamless and enjoyable. Juggling messaging apps is quite annoying.

You don't need to juggle apps; Apple's Messages supports SMS as well.

    Problem solved.

I wouldn't mind that. It could be considered as additional soundproofing, and I would benefit from it.

You're also replying to a poster who has stated numerous times that they have me on ignore, so I'm sure that they will appreciate you bringing up their favorite subject on this forum.

And for a person who constantly seems to complain and whine about my mere presence and existence on this forum, don't you find it slightly ironic and a tad pathetic that you even go out of your way to mention me?<img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

No, a Romney voter, and before that, a Bush voter

I do believe that they were the best candidates at the time, so yes, that would be correct.

Like there aren't Obama voters with luxurious opulent homes in NYC.

Of course there are. I never said that there weren't. All of those rich people that live in penthouses and apartments overlooking Central Park and in other areas are probably all typical Obama voters, at least the majority of them.

There's also another group of Obama voters, the kind that don't have anything at all, and are merely looking for handouts.
