Celebrities That Use Macs

Posted:
in General Discussion edited January 2014
I've got a small problem. I live in an area that is mainly PC users (well, I guess all areas are like that). I'm constantly having to fend off all the PC weanies at my school, which is everyone but me and one other kid. I do okay when it comes to performance and software, but that forces them into a corner, leaving them only to say that noone uses a mac. I don't have much to say to that, because not to many people do. I'm wondering if anyone knew of any celebrities (or anyone else a teenager would know) that use a mac. Thanks.

I don't know why having a celebrity use something would make it more attractive, especially for something as utilitarian as a computer knowing that, for the most part, actors are completely disconnected from the real world.

Maybe artists like Jamie listed, but unless they are musicians or have musical aspirations even that doesn't make sense.

Just call them stupid for wanting to be like dysfunctional celebrities.

Just drop this number: 25 Million.

That's the number of Mac users in the world. And it isn't very small.

I know that 25 million people use macs, but trying to get my peers to understand that is harder than it seems.

I aggree that people shouldn't want to be like celebrities. They make me sick too. But unfortunately, most teenagers look up to famous people.

Clerks, etc. director Kevin Smith got a new iMac and gave a funny, glowing, albeit low-tech review on his message board recently:

iDude, what do you care? Why is it your job to convince your peers that "Macs are cool and ARE being used by celebrities"?

Nothing worth getting into an endless pissing contest about. You use a Mac, they like their PCs. Big deal.

Besides why should ANY of us care what some shallow, half-talent Hollywood type uses for a computer. Hell, if anything, a jerk-off movie star or poser pop star using a Mac is seen, by me anyway, as a liability...and NOT a plus.

You use one. That's all that matters.

I know, but the problem is that the people that pick on me (or whatever you want to call it) won't let it up. They treat me the same way they do the homosexuals at school, like dirt, all because I use a different computer. I need something to fend them off, and they all admire, for some freaky reason, admire celebs. If you have a better suggestion than that, please give it.

The President is a Mac user

Dunno if that is a good or a bad thing....

    iDude,

Find some new friends or a new "clique" or something. Seriously. If you're having the kind of trouble you just described, it's not worth trying to convince those people.

I don't hang out with these people (only about 5 bad ones), but I have like 5 classes a day with them so they're hard to avoid. I don't try to convince them of anything, I just want to get them to leave me alone, since there are a lot of people that deserve to be messed with.

I didn't know the president was a mac user. I thought I heard somewhere that he was friends with Mike Dell.

Change the subject, and don't discuss Macs unless it is relevant. I find that that works at my school.

    BTW, what grade are you?

Arguing with them gives the the attention they want. Just roll your eyes at them and ignore them.

Trust me, you would look a lot worse trying to say "Britney Spears uses a Mac." than you would just laughing at them for being such nerds.

    Er, nope. That's utterly short-sighted.

Increasing the volume of Mac users increases the viability/utility of the Mac platform. We get more users...we get more developers...we get more software...we get more hardware...we get better prices...we get more users...

And Groverat...relentless arguing converted Lord Baldrick, didn't it? ...

hey idude, its been my experience with everyone that uses a pc are not willing to listen to anything I have to say. Hell, even playing a video game that is available for both platforms is almost impossible to talk about. There is no sense i any argument or even a discussion, if that is all that they can harass you with then that just shows how ignorant they are. Just be as you already are"The bigger Person." and be confident about that. You choose a mac because it suits your needs better and YOU made that decision, they are choosing to be ignorant, that is THEIR diecision. Rest easy knowing it takes them longer to figure out how to and use their mass-produced beige boxes than it takes you to use your fully intergrated stylish mac. And then you produce better stuff on top of that. All in all be CONFIDENT and hold you head up. We here at AI got your back.

My first reaction was to list the the Celebritires that I've heard use macs. But then, who gives a sh*t. Macs are just plain COOL to own. I would never buy anything based on who owns it!

I try to change the subject, but I don't have much in common with the people that are like this, so I can't talk about much. I'd walk away, but this usually happens during class, where I'm stuck.

I would never say anything about Britney Spears. I hate her, even if she does use a mac.

ijerry, you're right. They don't listen. But when I'm in an argument and they ask me "who uses a mac?" I can't just say "25 million people." I need more specific names and the only significant names that the people at my school know about are celebrities, which is the reason for this thread in the first place.

I forget who asked, but I'm in eighth grade.

Unlike most people here, iDude, I've been out in the real world and understand that there are people out there that harass you because of what computer you use. You don't even have to be talking about it for them to start bashing you for your computer of choice. I would say that people that openly use macs are in quite a similar situation to that of people that are openly homosexual. There's really nothing you can do about it, they know you use a mac and you cant prove to them that it is better, partly because for what these people likely do, it's not better. Macs suck for gaming and browsing the web, which is what most teenage guys do on their computers. To get out of this, you are going to have to lie. Tell them that you just built a dual Athlon system and that you use it for gaming and keep the mac around cause you like the way it looks. If you want more help, I'm here to help you.

Its a good thing. GWB uses a Mac because he needs his computer to be as user friendly as it can be. Clinton use one because he is cool like that.
