Dudes. I did not get an iPad until they arrived at generation 3. I love my iPad!!!
Very sorry it is not made out of steel, though.

Many people on the internet struggle to grasp the concept that things cost money.

Having just learned that the model I'm interested in is probably what costs $1099....I just lost almost interest in Apple Watch for this year unfortunately.

I'm a big believer in Apple Watch, and a Big Fan of Tim and company. But this is disappointing. Sure, research kit looks cool. 10 minutes of tech into? Supermodel saying how she loves half marathons in Africa wearing a "rubber" band? Comparatively, Tim's discussion of the pricing seemed dismissive; the metallurgy videos somehow showing the value. Yes, you worked hard. Yes, they're nice. Yes, they can do a lot. But...you need to show value to *me* not value to your shareholders (of which I am one.)

Sorry, but I expected better at this event. When iPad came out I was so excited; even the pricing seemed reasonable and competitive. I saw immediate value and got one on launch day.

Wish I was more excited right now. Been looking forward to this for 6 months. *sigh*

i loved the ResearchKit and it meant a lot to me, I'm glad they spent 10 minutes on it. i thought the event was great, and as a consumer and not a stock holder i think the prices are 1) great at $349/$549 starting points for sport/steel, 2) much less than some had expected.

the first gen iPod was $399. the first gen iPad started at $499. the first gen iPhone was $599. $349 seems good to me...

Hmm buy this for $1099 for get the macbook for $1299? Macbook for sure. So overpriced for this watch it's insane. Clearly it's about it being a fashion statement.

You didn't respond to me, but I was hoping for 100 and pay a premium over the rubber crap band that I would never wear to work.

Since that's what their phones are tiered at.

If you were excited when iPad came out you were a minority. Press was highly skeptical, as much so that when iPad two came out apple put out a video to show an "I told you" moment from the apple employees to the world of tech reviewers who were focusing on how iPad had no chances because tablets were never success, it's just for watching youtube vids, and most importantly, had no camera.

So plenty of people like you there, always not excited after watching an apple event. I actually think the point where apple arrived it's super exciting.

the difference in iPhones is merely storage capacity, not numerous higher-grade materials. a $200 increase from sport to steel is less than i had expected.

from what I understand $549 and $599 are rubber band still in apple watch stainless steel. even gold watch $10k sells with rubber band. It's safe to expect another $100-$200 to upgrade it to leather.

I don't know why you're so disappointed? This sounds like a very logical price for such a device?

I'm a bit afraid that the milanese band costs 400$, but I guess I'll go for the cheaper band on the steel watch.

And no, I'm not getting a gold thingie... I can get a Mac Pro for that :)

It's not $50, but I expected it like $100. $200 is ridiculous. Also, this is not counting the damn band starting at $49. So even with the Sport, you end up at $399 for lowest one. Sucks.

I'll take back my prediction on Apple watch sale. First year will be <5 millions units. I'm out.

It's very special steel. Steel engineering is extremely hard. France used to be the best in that market, but a few years ago, executives ran the best company into the ground, and an indian billionaire bought the intellect and left the workers to rot, somehow, from what the press reported (or what I understood....). Apparently the knowledge was not valuable enough for the French government to intervene?

America does intervene in the "liberal" economy in these situations. Shows who's got brains in governments :p

In any case, they've apparently done an incredible job again, and I'm not going to wait for V2 ;)

Prices are as expected. Thought I thought gold would be close to 5K. I'll probably just get the sport for the first gen, but would easily spent 1000 or so for stainless down the road ...

If they'd started them at $199 then people would want them, as it is the new Pebble Time will be the one to get (10 days use)

You don't deserve an ?Watch if you think it's too expensive and would rather get a Pebble Time.

Perhaps once they actually have older models to fill those tiers.
