I had iPhone since 3G and this is the only one that scratched a lot...hair line scratches. Look under the sun.
all of my iPhones since 3G have had hairline screen scratches, of the sort that i can only detect with the display off and reflecting it in the sun or another light source.
Except those were stand alone products. The ?Watch is an ACCESSORY to the iPhone. You can't even load apps without the iPhone if I understood Tim Cook correctly. What else can you do with it without the iPhone besides tell time? Pretty pricy for a what is a bland, featureless block of glass and metal most of the time. And for all but those with the smallest wrists, $400 is the entry price point. Frankly why would anyone get a smart watch without the biggest screen they could possibly support on their wrist?
we've been over this so many times -- it's clearly you're just trolling.
being a wireless iPod, making Apple Pay payments from its own secure enclave and NFC transmitter, and fitness tracking is hardly "featureless".
i do not have small wrists but prefer the case size of the 38mm. i dont like big watches (MIND BLOWING, isn't it -- someone with a DIFFERENT OPINION than you!)
No, I just think Apple has lost it this time, the prices are extortionate
If the prices were $150 less for the watch I might contemplate one, but as it is they really deserve this product to flop at the prices of the watch+band
Apple are doing price gouging, especially given the products probably cost less than 10% of their price to make
what on earth is this rubbish you speak? price gouging at $349? so if it were 150 less, as you decree, then it would be 200 bucks. thats hardly a premium price for a premium product, which is the premium market apple has always worked in. are you new to apple?
Apple Watch. It is just a watch. It is a time keeping device, nothing more. Apple is dressing up to make it more...(a portable computer) but no real specs associated with it like... type of processor, RAM or storage for that matter. They built this device as a companion piece with the iPhone6. If you bought both devices, now you really are blowing your money. Is glancing at your watch easier than glancing at your iPhone? Apple is selling convenience nothing more. The watch prevents you looking at your iPhone but you need your iPhone for the watch to perform certain tasks. Apple has been overcharging on every device they sell under the claim of "they build they best products..." All I ask, be fair in your pricing. The Gold watch is not 100% gold... It is an alloy so why $10,000. Nothing is better than gold. This is all marketing hype. These watches will sell... the lower tiers but, remember, it is a watch and a computer that will go out of date as soon as the next "smaller" processor enters into the mix. If you really what a good watch... maybe a $300 Titanium Kinetic Seiko Watch will do, or a Solar powered Citizen Watch. They charge themselves up while you wear it.
oh, a spec-troll!
you know whats better than soft gold? hardened gold. but dont take my word for it, take Hubolt's -- they sell $30-50,000 watches of custom, hardened gold:

Out of all I wrote, NolaMacGuy, you are picking on me about the Gold comment. Boy, you must be bored. Is there anything else you disagree with. And you, PaulMJohnson, I did not say that the Apple Watch is shit. I just wanted to express opinion about the watch which is a companion piece with the iPhone6. You need the iPhone to do certain tasks. It is not a stand alone product. And yes, I will not be buying this watch, not because I can't afford it, but it is a version 1 product of Apple's. The 1st version of anything Apple does is notoriously flawed in some area. Apple is not the greatest as they proclaim, just very human and arrogant.
you know whats better than soft gold? hardened gold. but dont take my word for it, take Hubolt's -- they sell $30-50,000 watches of custom, hardened gold:
Guys like him will probably cry out how they can build a watch-clone themselves with a replaceable battery, 20 USB ports, and a quad-core i7 for 1/5th the price of Apple's low-end watch using parts from Fry's.
What a stunning statement, sflocal. The 1990's are calling me. No real comment from me can beat that witty reply. I assume you disagree with my post then. Tell me why?
The 1st version of anything Apple does is notoriously flawed in some area. Apple is not the greatest as they proclaim, just very human and arrogant.
And most of Apple's 1st-gen products have always been better than any of Android's multiple-gen products. So what's your point?
When does that 1st-gen mentality end? It's a tired statement I constantly read everywhere. People refuse to buy the iPhone6 because it's the 1st-gen of the 6 model, when it's actually the (7th-gen??) of the original iPhone? Why buy today's new Macbook when in 3-4 years and even BETTER one will be available?
Not sure why you claim Apple is "arrogant" since you "conveniently" did not provide any factual information. They are the greenest tech company, provide untold number of jobs, pay the most taxes than any US company, are active in human-rights causes, and had made many AAPL owners of all income-classes very happy.
Buy hey... you say Apple is "arrogant", so obviously you know more than everyone else does.
I'm a big believer in Apple Watch, and a Big Fan of Tim and company. But this is disappointing. Sure, research kit looks cool. 10 minutes of tech into? Supermodel saying how she loves half marathons in Africa wearing a "rubber" band? Comparatively, Tim's discussion of the pricing seemed dismissive; the metallurgy videos somehow showing the value. Yes, you worked hard. Yes, they're nice. Yes, they can do a lot. But...you need to show value to *me* not value to your shareholders (of which I am one.)
Sorry, but I expected better at this event. When iPad came out I was so excited; even the pricing seemed reasonable and competitive. I saw immediate value and got one on launch day.
Wish I was more excited right now. Been looking forward to this for 6 months. *sigh*
These are luxury watches, make no mistake. I'm sure you'll be able to buy any number of ripoff lookalikes for under $50 any day now if price is the only concern.
What a stunning statement, sflocal. The 1990's are calling me. No real comment from me can beat that witty reply. I assume you disagree with my post then. Tell me why?
Uhg... so sorry... You're right. I was wrong.
It's actually the early-2000's calling you. I get the two mixed-up sometimes.

Troll.
But the Apple Watch is a 1st generation product. I do not care about any Android products. What factual information do you need about Apple's arrogance. How about Apple still not bringing back most of the manufacturing to America. Oh yeah, The Mac Pro is made in Austin, TX. What else? As a matter of fact they are expanding to India and other 3rd world countries. Apple has provided untold number of jobs. I believe you are partially correct. You see Wall Street loves Apple because of their actions. Oh yes, They have opened up many Apple Stores in the country and provided jobs. So what. The bulk of their work is in China. Why do you think Tim has been in China so often. I do not think it is just to improve the human condition. I do not know more than everyone else, but as a APPL owner myself I do read and do some research into my investments. Do me a favor... Let's just comment on their products.
"Anything comes from Apple is special: Aluminum, Steel and even Gold..or in last iPhone 6/6+, screen which crashed like crazy."
Whaaa?
?Unless instead of "crashed" you meant "cracked", which was only really a problem for fat-asses who stuck them in their back pockets then sat their fat asses on top of them. Anything would crack under that kind of force.
Spelling shit from typing on a mobile device, man..."SCRATCH"

Really? After all that's been written, posted, discussed about what Apple over the years, and all the contribution to the U.S., and global economy you want to pretend that you've never read any of it and want me to regurgitate it? Sorry... not your monkey.
Apple contributes both directly/indirectly to hundreds of thousands of jobs. Whether it be providing better jobs to overseas workers like in China, or providing/inspiring hundreds of thousands of jobs in the software development sector. Indirectly, its technologies help fuel countless other industries both in the US, and elsewhere. The MacPro is a good start, but at least Apple tries. The iPhone's Ax chips are made by Samsung at a fab located in Austin, Texas, Gorilla Glass from a US company. Research/Support centers in the US, green-power for their data centers, and way more to list...
Name ONE other Apple competitor that even remotely comes close? Sure Apple is not perfect. No one is, but "Arrogant" because they're not bringing back enough manufacturing jobs to the US? Please, cry me a river. When manufacturing makes sense, I'll gladly take Apple's reasoning why it's not happening fast enough than the hissy-fit you're with it.
Do your own research after you let go of your agenda.
You missed what I said. Yes, you obviously need "A" band for the watch. But they should have packaged and sold them separately. Thus giving people the option to choose which watch body they wanted with which band they want. I already gave you an example of not being able to do what you mentioned. They do not list the Space Black Apple Watch with any other band than the stainless steel link band (for $1049/$1099). That is the option I would prefer, however, with the price of the link bands It's more than I'm willing to spend. Had they offered the watches without a band and sold all of the bands separately I might have considered buying the Space Black watch with a black sport band for ~$650. As I don't have this option I likely will abstain from purchasing one.
-PopinFRESH
I see. You happened to pull out the only watch that was different from the rest of the line. For every instance of the watch save that one, my point was accurate. Honestly I hadn't even noticed that there was a different stainless steel option in the list.

My thoughts exactly. I thought we'd managed to get over the spec wars - seemingly not.
If you think the Apple Watch is shit, don't buy one. I'm sure Apple will manage.
If you like the look of it, pick one that you can afford and buy it.
My thoughts exactly. Remember when people were having their iPods snatched when the snatchers saw the white (and very painful) earbuds?
Now this thing is even more easily stolen, ripped right off your wrist (esp. ones with just magnetic bands).
yeah, except for these pesky things called "sleeves" -- totally stolen easily. it's a miracle other companies sell watches too!
