I would much rather have an antique Patek Philippe than an Edition for that sort of money.
Choice is a good thing.
But the difference is that I won't be going onto a Patek Phillipe interest group or forum to lecture them on all the short comings of their watch, with no interest in buying it. And then deciding to stay and post a negative comment or two on each story for years to come.
I hope you enjoy your watch, and it brings some joy to your life to balance out all of the negativity that Apple makes you feel.

Better to block and ignore than to curse those bound to continue to annoy. ????
An original unopened iPhone1 is being sold for $10k on ebay.
How much is it being bought for? You can sell things for any price you want. A competing seller is selling for $359 so an original iPhone is worth no more than that.
All these unbelievably expensive adornments that men buy? They're no different from a peacock's fantail.
There's a parallel story for women, by the way.
Too true. I wonder how many people in here making fun of the Edition have a woman in their life with a diamond ring.
A rock that's not rare at all, other than through pure market manipulation.

Even in Gold, the iKnob on the side still looks ugly. It will be interesting to read the reviews of ordinary people who buy an iWatch, whether Apple really have taken the concept and components of a smartwatch and made something truly great, or just come up with a nicely packaged remix.
I think the market segmentation shown by the price range shows that Apple are really hedging their bets over trying to find a customer base for this.
Definitely interested in the sport model, but of course final decision will depend on trying it in store, seeing user reviews etc. I believe in the concept, but I may decide to wait for version 2. Not going to trash it when it isn't even on sale yet though.
For those complaining at the cost of the iWatch, check this.
Limited edition of seven, one will be kept by Patek Philippe in their museum, the six remaining will be sold for $2,500,000 each, only after you convince the charman of the company that you are worthy of owning one.

And I'd rather have $10k than a watch that only tells the time and not very accurately.
Its called choice.
So...you are still buying one??

I'll gladly wait until next year when the Gen 1 Gold will be able to be had on eBay for around $500.
Honestly, It wouldn't at all surprise me to see Apple intervene and bid the price up if something like that ever actually happened.
Indeed. This was pretty good at expanding on why it's actually healthy for you to let trying to control others thoughts go: http://lifehacker.com/5986087/science-explains-why-the-silent-treatment-works-when-dealing-with-jerks-and-why-its-healthier-for-you-too

It wouldn't be in the luxury market like most digital watches.
Why don't they make a solid gold iPhone? That would sell better in the luxury market than an Apple Watch.

So are you and DocNo42 buying one each then?

Is this watch fit for God, I wonder?
That's vaguely blasphemous.
Is this watch fit for God, I wonder?
Of course not, that would be one of their bespoke $25,000,000 efforts.
