"Ladies and gentlemen, we'd like to bring out our new company spokesman at this time to introduce our latest new thing... and here he is... Mr. Emo Phillips..."
I'm going to ridicule it to if they do something so foolish. There are plenty of third party accessories for the people that really feel like they need that. For 99% of people and daily interaction, its unnecessary junk.
Hardly junk at all. It's not something needed, or even something most people would use, but for artists and similar it would be fantastic.
And, no, third party accessories won't cut it. Proper stylus support for something as precise as drawing would require a digitizer of some sort in the screen. Have you ever used a digitizer (like a Wacom) and compared it to a pen on an iPad? It's not even close.
Having Christopher Walken introduce Apple products would be absolutely glorious.
"And now the new "I"-phone. It's absolutely aMAYzing how thin and light we've made this sucker. I tell ya, you invest some of that blood money into Apple, and by the end of the year I'll have ya wearin' gold plated diapers!"
Probably an iPad with pen support. The competition will ridicule that. I'm sure Microsoft has ads ready to go.
I can go into any Apple Store and buy a Bluetooth keyboard and Bluetooth pen to go with my iPad. Yet somehow Apple has to brand these accessories in order for people to start giving Apple credit for it?
We say every year, “Maybe they’ll do their own thing. Maybe they’ll make their own design...”
NOPE.

No clue, but even for the iPhone 7,000 journalists sounds extremely rich. If this rumor has merit (and so far I only think it has some, because who else would rent a place this big at this time), there must be something else?
I agree. It wouldn't make sense for Apple to have a big event just for the "s" version of the phones, which typically don't have much in the way of enhancements, certainly nothing "must have" or groundbreaking. It would be like having an event to announce new cars in a model off-year, where nothing much changes except (for example), a slightly different bumper or headlight design. The press would persecute them and the stock price would drop. There has to be something else. (If not, Apple has lost its mind).

Whatever it is we'll find out soon enough. Those dates are getting close especially if they expect people to make plane/hotel reservations...

but have you used any of the bluetooth pens with an iPad - its not a good experience at all. One could have bought a smartwatch for an iPhone long before apple watch - but the experience of a pebble or similar v apple watch is night and day.
I expect chalk and cheese with an Apple stylus (pen)

1) I don't know why, especially after all these years of it being discussed on this forum, that anyone is still looking at all styluses the same way. There is no digitizer in the iPad. Third-parties have done what they can to get around this limitations but without a digitizer and the accompanying OS-level code anything the iPad with a stylus is a kludge and pales in comparison to the MS Surface, Samsung Galaxy Note, and anything by Cintiq, to name a few.
2) The pens work by natural capacitance so the current lot of styluses don't need to have any BT or battery in them. The ones that have BT is so they can work with certain apps that can alter how the app registers the input. This needs to be built into the OS with frameworks and allow apps to build in native support with APIs.

I'm quoting you as it seems these points are lost on so many.
Stylus support on MS Surface is way better than any existing stylus on iPad ( reasons you mentioned) but IMO its not good enough to sketch and annotate notes / drawings (its OK but not good enough)
I'm the only one thinking iTunes Festival for the first time in US?
Yeah, likely you are the only one, except maybe a few BM heads who couldn't get tickets this year. Apple holding first iTunes Fest in U.S. with no promo, no band names, no reservation system...for an event a couple of weeks away?

Sure, I have no doubt that when (not if) Apple jumps in it will be the best experience for a consumer tablet with a digitizer.
So why haven't they done it yet? Perhaps it's getting the frameworks, APIs, and built-in apps not quite ready for primetime, and we know Apple won't add HW for the sake of being able to add an item to a spec sheet if there is no "killer app" to go with it. My guess is the digitizer HW has been holding it back; likely cost, but it could add some additional issues like thickness of display panel, brightness of display, power usage, or display accuracy (in order of what I think would be most to least likely). That is something that can be resolved in time.
How about the rumoured iPad Pro to start? That would have the largest display and that "full" feature would help drive sales. It could then trickle down into other devices if it's a hit. Note that Notes for iOS 9 jut got the ability to sketch, along with many other page layout features.

Of course they did it wrong, they didn't have anything from Apple in which to copy from.
Disclaimer: I don't expect the new iPads to be announced in September along with the new iPhones.
i was expecting the new iPad (Pro?) to be revealed but the lack of any credible leak has convinced me otherwise. Unless they plan to reveal it months before availability. An iPad pro - if equipped with properly integrated stylus could be a new class of device entirely. I would like a digitizer built in that offers precision and speed, but also use of haptic etc to give the drawer a similar feeling as that of a good pen or pencil on paper, rather than the difficult to control feel of hard nylon (or worse spongey rubber) on glass.

1) I agree with you about the leaks. With Apple as large as it is, with so focus on everything they do, and how many units they would need for the launch it's hard to see who they could keep it under wraps with so many 3rd-party and foreign suppliers needing to be in the loop. Still, I can see a market for it, so perhaps they might do what they do for other new device categories where it gets s decent lead time, or maybe they have found a way to hide their actions better. Did we see the new MacBook casing before it arrived, or did we just get some rumours about the size and colors?
2) I am still in the dark as to how Force Touch works. Since Watch can have a curved, sapphire display I would guess that it can't be warped so I have concluded that Force Touch is done with an algorithm to determine the pattern and speed of the finger pressing down on the display's touch matrix. How would this work in an iPad when using a stylus with a fine point which wouldn't deform as easily or as much? Wouldn't there need to be a sensor in the stylus, like with Wacom styluses, that can sense pressure? That doesn't mean Force Touch would be absent from other iDevices, just that it would need finger or finger-like appendage to make it work.
Effectively, but my guess for this set of APIs wouldn't focus on the writing implement but what it's used for. Something like SketchKit.
Well, right, whatever it's called. Your name is more Appley

I use the Intuos stylus (v1) & ProCreate on an iPad3 mostly. SBP's support for the Intuos seems to have gotten a real bad bug and is effectively unusable as of now. Maybe they'll put out an update. I'm not real clear on what Autodesk's strategy is these days.

They're removing most of the seats and installing an indoor track to demo the Apple Car.
I'm sure there are a few facilities in Detroit that already have the seats removed. I'm sure the old Pontiac Silverdome is available for those dates!
Having Christopher Walken introduce Apple products would be absolutely glorious.

To make their own is an admission of failure.
