My claim uses absolute statements, not by what people think he meant. How's that ridiculous?
Because Steve was notorious for lying to fit his immediate sales need even if it contrasted something we later knew he was passionate about. At the time he was trying to sell a touch interface in a world where people were used to having a stylus.
Here's a great article citing a few other times he mislead people in this manner.
That's an answer I can respect. There's always a bit of deception in business; always has been, and always will be.
I'll give [@]SolipsismY[/@] credit because he's always seen the usefulness a stylus can have, but others here have ridiculed Samsung, and Microsoft for including a stylus with their devices. Those very same people are now gushing over the Pencil. In my book that's hypocrisy.
I have the Note 8.0 and it fails not for the hardware, but the software. Something the iPad will suffer for a while also. Procreate is nice, but it's not everyone's style.
I'm currently using the Surface Pro 3 with Manga Studio for cartoon and comic illustration. And I don't expect to be getting rid of it any time soon. At least until the apps catch up on the App Store.

Out of context. In no way did Steve say that your finger is the best option for all things at all times. He's talked extensively about the iPhone OS since it was announced in 2007 and he's made it very clear that a resistive display and a mobile OS that was designed to mimic the desktop OS and require a stylus for normal interaction was a failure. On top of that, it's all moot because Steve told Tim to run the company as he saw fit, and not to ask what Steve will do, so it's absolutely ridiculous to bring Steve into this, even if he did outright say, "Not even over my dead body, will a stylus be used for drawing or painting on an iPad, never, ever, ever, regardless of any niche usage needs."
Using a notoriously inaccurate method of input (because of current limitations of Machine Learning / AI) as the interface on which to use a device -- is frustrating and doomed to failure.
Questions are answered in the context of the day. If the questioner was all knowing etc. and asked followup questions, like "What if ..." or "What about this use case..." and you would get a more detailed answer....
The use case is not the same as the context of the day (Newton / Palm) and we don't know the context of what Steve Jobs was answering when he said it. People saying both he was just saying that it was primary input, and those saying he was saying no possible use not even sketching... are reading more into what he said and why he said than Steve Jobs himself may have been thinking at the time.....
Has anyone received anything yet? My MacMall order says it's pushed back til Dec 3rd. (So much for ships mid-November.). The pencil is estimated to arrive late November. What is Apple doing with this product launch?

Apparently yes....
@reneritchie "Several iPads Pro on this flight. That was fast."
I wonder if he is flying home from an Apple conference somewhere " src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

And of course Rene had his on the plane and he did a video review to make your drool while you are waiting....

What are they doing, you ask? They're unexpectedly selling every single one they can make. Huge demand!
They just found out more of the right people wanted it so -- being unimportant -- the knocked his back a little
Actually, you're not far off the mark. I understand it's a fight at the store level to fulfill customer orders. Every shipment that comes in the employees are "competing" with each other to get their orders filled, but the largest orders get consolidated and shipped first.
This is ridiculous a person shouldn't have to wait a whole month before we see the iPad Pro gold In a 128gb it was ordered on December 3 I was originally told by Verizon I'd have it December 24th when I went to check the status on Verizon I get told now it won't be shipped until December 31st because it's on backorder You think this idiots would make enough to keep up with demand and not have to make people wait mind you I had to put down $540 to get it but I see their were no delays with taking my money as that was done on the spot but I huge delay with shipping it's already December 10 and so much for having it by Christmas
Thanks alot Apple
They really need to get their heads out of their asses
