I don't see Apple making all 3 camera lenses sit differently. Way too much fragmentation between designs.
What happened to the whole "vertical cameras for better landscape mode" argument for the biggest model?
I'm hoping Apple engineers are figuring out how to make dual lenses sit in one simple circular enclosure or disappear altogether.(anything is possible)
What I personally don't like is how small the iPhone 8 is! I was shocked seeing how it's going to be the same size as the 7s! I'm just use to big phones! I which apple could make a plus size iPhone 8! Idk but I thought since the 7 plus was the best seller last year, Apple would of known to make a bigger size iPhone 8! And with the note 8 coming around with the same camera set up and the edge to edge screen and bigger is better, I just don't know what apple is achieving!
Oh my God! You need more exclamation marks! In your post!
The iPhone 8 size looks perfect, especially if it will have a bigger screen to body ratio than the 7. No need to make it bigger. Much more pocketable than the 7 Plus, and with a bigger screen than the 7. The Plus phones are uncomfortably large.
The rumoured high price, Would probably track back to some expensive new technology, I guess? Any insight on what makes it supposedly so expensive? Fingerprint reader screen? Embedded camera in screen? Lytro light field camera? FaceTime depth cam? Fuel cell batteries? Inductive charging? Anti gravity mode?
Anti-gravity mode would be nice. I could ditch the huge, thick case i have to keep my phone in to protect it from... well, me.
As much as I want a fuel-cell electric car, I don't think I want it in my phone. Sure, instant recharging would be handy, but after my experience trying to refill butane lighters, I think trying to force flammable liquid/gas through a tiny little valve is an exercise best left to people with better co-ordination and spacial perception. All I ever seem to manage is emptying the contents of an explosive container into the air.
I'd be happy with just USB3. Transferring large amounts of material is painfully slow on the current models.
I don't get why everyone is obsessed with making phones bigger but not better?
Apple's own figures suggest lots of customers are holding on to 4inch phones and not upgrading causing issues with growth. Seems a doubled down dumb move to add another size between large and extra large at the same time as they are rumoured to kill the iPad mini.
while most consumers will opt for the traditionally-priced "iPhone 7s" lineup.
I really doubt that. Everyone will want to get the 8 while millions of 7s's will struggle to find a buyer.
That's simply not the way it works. After a year of sales, the cheapest one will the one sold in most volume, and on down from there. That is the way sales work. In every market. Of every product. On the planet.
Does the SE sell in higher numbers than the 7? Does the 7 sell more than the 6s currently?
Look around you! Have you read anyone on this website, or do you have anyone in your circle that says "Yeah great, i am waiting for this year's 7s" ?
I do not know anyone.
Everyone says "Yeah I am waiting for the revolutionary 8!"
Anyone who wants primarily a cheap phone either buys Android or buys a used iphone, or iphone SE.
I really hope that the iPhone 8 is going to be something extraordinary. Up to now I have found iphones wanting as the 3,4 & 5 were ridiculous, small and plain boring. The 6 a clone of the Android devices was a step in the right direction but it just doesn't do it for me. The 7 is a slight improvement though still boring and not on par with the more popular Android offerings. I find that Apple just can't keep up with the market leaders. The Samsung juggernaut just keeps on churning advancement after advancement and all Apple has done is add IP67 some 3 years later and zero upgradable storage.
I find that Apple can't lose money like the Android manufacturers. The Samsung juggernaut just keeps on burning phones and stores. Are we going to see some classic Steve Jobs innovation in the iPhone 8? Just for the record in the country where I live iPhone enjoys less than 10% of market share with Samsung holding way above 50% over here and the balance shared by the other Android manufacturers including LG etc. I want to be inspired as I was as a kid using a Mac for the first time and so far I have not been and am very keen to try out an iPhone.

First, the 7+ was NOT the biggest seller in terms of units. It may have sold more than expected, but various surveys have shown that the 7 outsold the 7 Plus. Second, Apple also sold boat loads of the SE which has the smallest screen currently offered by Apple. Some people just prefer the smaller footprint. The rumored 8 with a footprint of a 7 but with a larger screen will sell very well.

I wouldn't worry about that. If there is an 8, there will be an 8 plus. The plus has been selling well, as you noted. I got one last year and I can never go back to a regular sized phone now.
I have a bad feeling about the iPhone 8. I think there's gonna be lots of problems when it comes out.
What an absurdly low-value post.
What didn't you like about that post?
Articles on this site have reported a few areas of concern. When suppliers are having trouble manufacturing certain parts, it's not unreasonable to get an uneasy feeling about new aspects of the design being at risk of suffering growing pains.
My wife and I plan to replace our iPhones this cycle, and I've also been wondering if we might wind up sticking with the "old-style" models this time and waiting for the new design to mature a bit before dropping long coin.

No, no articles have reported suppliers having trouble. There are only scores of rumors contrasting other rumors -- none of it fact, none of it verifiable, none of new. Every year there's rumors get trotted out.
Being "concerned" based on this scattershot of unknown and anonymous rumors is silly.

Oh, you're a SHAREHOLDER! You don't want nervous buyers driving down the stock price. Got it. Sorry. Shh!
The iphone 8 lens moulding seems to protrude, the others do not?
Probably. Look like 7s/s+ will finally get rid of the protrude. iPhoneX may be just a special edition with 1 piece of back glass. I doubt Apple will call it iPhone 8. Looks like it's 5.2-5.3" screen with very narrow top and bottom bezels. I don't believe Apple will make edge to edge screen at all but something similar to current iPhone 7/7+.
Was going to make the same comment about the name of the phone. IPhone 8 seems terribly unlikely; it would automatically imply the 7s/7s+ Are instantly out of date. This new model will likely be a parallel track, similar to the SE, which doesn't have a model number designation. iPhone Edition would be my first guess. iPhone Pro is a tempting guess, but implies it's for some type of professional user, either enterprise or freelance professionals, like a photographer. So I think there's too much baggage with the Pro moniker. Edition seems just right.
And this would be the time also to drop the numbering for the main iPhone line. So this year I could see:
iPhone Edition iPhone + iPhone iPhone SE
Surely SE stands for Special Edition though? Don't think it's wise to have a top-of-the-line "Edition" model, and a classic "Special Edition"

I think I want one if the rumours are accurate, but it does seem like there's a risk of unexpected issues. Things like putting the Home button in the display make it kind of a Version 1.0 product. I'll probably risk it, but might wait a few months to see if there are any show-stopper problems. I probably won't have any choice. The waiting list will be a few months long!
A home button embedded in the display is very unlikely.
What are you talking about? The iPhone 7 is already halfway there. They've already established the non-physical button. It is already a sensor+3D touch+haptic feedback solid state part of the cover glass. The hard part was getting that right. The feel of it will be imperceptibly different on the 8....pushing glass, getting feedback.
All they are doing is adding a display layer to it, so that they can show a virtual button.
If you think that your virtual button will be a "button" shaped icon, no, that won't happen. That's Android. The most plausible design will be a "function area" below the display and within the bezel. What I say is the whole bottom bezel will act as the home button. Is that too hard to understand?
Its not hard to understand, it is just made up. We already know from reliable sources what the product will consist of. The "function area" is like the Touch Bar on the MacBook Pro. It is a display, not a bezel.

No relation.
Which is why I've been calling the new one iPhone XE.

I like how it is done with the watch: Have one model, two sizes, and distinguish with materials—For the iPhone that would be: unapologetic plastic, aluminium, and ceramic.
EDIT: I agree that they should just call it the iPhone.

--> Demand for the 8 will far outstrip the 7s
The iPhone isn't Star Wars.
