After people calling Elon Musk a hack and backing up their comments that Tesla will be shutting down any day now because the Model 3 isn't being produced as fast as initially intended (even though it did make it launch date) I guess we need to say the same thing about Apple and Cook (and about Jobs when he ran the company) now that Apple has once again delayed a launch date that they gave themselves.
A product bringing in zero revenue to a company with $229 billion in yearly revenue is delayed. This will cause $265 billion in cash to evaporate from Apple’s bank account and force them out of business.

    Seems right.

Yup, I think hes the first human on earth born with a preset event trigger.
Does that mean he needs a ‘safe space?’
Those upset by GG's reasoned comments because they don't fit a world view of "only Apple" are the ones that need a safe space.
What about those annoyed by his factually incorrect FUD comments, like that Face ID would pose a problem to those used to answering their spouse’s iphones?

I don't recall such a comment, but I think it's an interesting one if it wasn't posed as an absolute. I believe the iPhone X keeps Notifications hidden until it unlocks with your face, so I wonder where a phone call falls into that. I think my iPhone 7 Plus will still display the accept call functionality even when unlocked, but does the new security prohibit that? I'm guessing it doesn't affect phone calls, only viewing missed calls before you unlock the device. Is that correct?

Yes, he’s made that comment and others that remind one that he doesn’t actually use the products he provides a contrarian opinion over. in other words, his agenda is showing.

As for iphone — all models have always and currently allow anyone to answer a call even when locked. I haven’t done a test on my X to see if the notification for missed calls is different, but I doubt it since there is no additional content to preview in the notification of a missed call.

After 17,000+ posts, that must be some agenda!

Then again, it could be that you are seeing things that just aren't there and mistaking opinion for something else.

The Honor Magic (released December 2016) does what you suggest (only shows certain information if the 'owner' of the phone is determined to be the person holding it). Please try the case you mentioned because it would be interesting to know if the X hides the name and number of who is calling until the owner looks at the screen. I don't know if the Magic does this.

Does the X automatically switch off the ringtone if you receive a call while holding it and switch to vibration mode instead?

If you are holding the phone but not looking at it, does it turn off the screen?

    Just curious.

    HomePodGATE !!!

    Is iMac ProGATE next ?!?!?
Oh, geeze.  It used to be somebody would race to post 'FIRST' in a comments field. Now it's who's first to post some '—GATE!' prediction. Who the fuck cares. It may happen. If it does, it'll pass just like all the others.

I think this was inevitable, given the lack of chatter about it recently. And I expect it will be lucky to meet the first quarter.
I'm trying to parse your vague sentence. Are you saying there was no 'chatter' because it was falling behind some release date? Or that because of lack of 'chatter' Apple decided to postpone the launch?

I hope Apple takes as long as they want to get it as right as possible. Perfect is never an option, but it is a lofty goal. I'm disappointed in the delay as I want to use it with my Hue lights as well as its other features.

No, I didnt think that Apple had a fully functioning device but decided to not release it because there werent enough tweets about the device.

By chatter I mean supply chain chatter, analyst chatter etc. Blogs getting the exact release date early. We tend not to be surprised these days, the iPhone X was hardly a secret on the day.

Disappointing news so in the meantime I grabbed an Echo Dot bundle for $35. This should at least give me voice control over my Hue lights until I get a HomePod.

Yeah, I use Siri but it's very uneven. A lot of wax in Siri's ears, and I have to speak up for both the phone and Watch compared to Alexa, who's always got her ear on a glass on the wall.

Watching the launch of the full holiday advertising season yesterday, with Google and Amazon going head to head, you have to wonder if the delay is simply tactical.

HomePod looks like it will basically do two things extremely well: secure, private “Home” (HomeKit) hub and high-quality Apple Music “Pod” (AirPlay). Is that right? If Apple were to launch the advertising for it yesterday, as they would have needed to, it would have been in direct competition with the other two. I doubt Apple is terribly worried about Google’s latest scheme to collect your data, but they might have delayed the launch to protect HomePod from Echo — whatever HomePod is, it is not part of Amazon’s sales & distribution network, which will soon include Whole Foods. I’d worry about opposing ads highlighting what you can’t do with HomePod.

A December launch must have seemed like a good idea back in June, and it certainly forced Google and Amazon to play their hands, but “Coming in 2018” might have been wiser...
