I haven't noticed a big difference in performance. What in particular was slower for you?

Yeah, I had an external Studio Display, and it has caused so much lag in the interface, it was nearly intolerable. Quartz Extreme and the 800DVI's Radeon 7500 just can't keep up with that 1280x864 display PLUS another 1024x768 one.

Yeah, I'm bitter because I plunked down the $3450 (I bought a ADC-DVI adapter) for my 800MHz PBG4 two weeks before the 1GHz model came out. (And no, I had no choice, because my other Mac broke down, and I had a huge number of papers to do).

I'm thinking of just giving my studio display to my girlfriend now, as I don't have much of a practical use for it. The system comes, pretty much, to a halt with that thing attached. If only she had a DVI video card.

icruise:&gt;&gt; photoshop7 turned into a big dog...I hear it might be the difference between spanning a CRT vs. a LCD issue?

Huh. My 1ghz does great with the extra monitor. It's 1280x1024 as you might be able to tell from the picture.

I know you are going to say this

Well.....the shop that I went to two weeks ago gave me an decent offer....they are willing to take back my Sony CRT at very good price.....then they offer me extended warranty for $80 bucks.....

    Very tempting....

My monitor has a pink stuck pixel by the way

I just returned the Cinema Display

Beside the stuck pixel there also some problem with the power. It shuts down itself AND THE TOWER without any signs. This is bad...

The replacement won't arrive for at least 6 days

So much for buying an Apple Display

acually I still use it with my pc, although I can prob switch over right now without any problems, I just havent gotten around to it. The itunes and iphoto intergration looks really cool, hmmm maby i will take another look at it right now <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" /> It just depends if you use any appz that need a pc counterpart that only runs on pc.

heres a <a href="http://www.cliesource.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=27"; target="_blank">link</a> to the mac section of a very good site devoted to the clie, their mac section is kind of a slow board but you might find some answers there.

My replacement Cinema Display finally arrived today.

Still one stuck pixel but this time a "variable" green on the side instead of one stubborn dark red pixel sits right in the centre on the broken (previous) one....
  • Reply 198 of 627
so does that mean your keeping it? ah i remember the dead pixel nightmares when i was trying to get a perfect sony clie screen, but that screen was a whole lot smaller so 1 pixel was HUGE to me, esp a red one <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" /> Good thing sony was really good about letting me return.

Probably. This is actually the second replacement. That green pixel does change color and it's very hard to notice. Also it's on the right hand side where I put all palettes to....even harder to notice
