okay, i gotta ask someone who actually shelled out $$$ for that "iCurve" -- namely, what does it offer, that a couple of say, phone books stacked on top of each other, doesn't? plus,i have seen/felt the 15" pbook on top of one of those things, and i don't see how you can feel safe using it like that (wobble, wobble, wobble...)

Offers
1) improved lcd display height for the tall people.
2) improved lcd display height for use with an extra monitor. trust me, looking left and right as opposed to left right and way down for the second 'pallette' monitor is a real pain (literally).
3) improved cooling
4) improved desk real estate - I keep a few things under there
5) it doesn't go wobble wobble if you're not wobbling it (you use a second keyboard)
6) a few other good points that I can't remember right now...

thought I would add
+ you can hide your keyboard underneath your 'book stand
+ its much more attractive than a stack of phone books
okay. to each his/her own. i would personally find a much more solid piece to do the same job (someone must make something -- okay, i wouldn't necessarily use phone books, but that thing just looks and feels flimsy for my very-expensive tibook). plus, i have a hard time sheeling out $$$ for a bent piece of acrylic. plus, some "company" is trying to sell their own custom "ipod stand", which is just an off-the-office-depot-shelf acrylic stand with four rubber stick on feet (bought from home depot) on it to keep the ipod from slipping around. sigh, i guess if you can find buyers...
Steve's top three excuses for having bought an iCurve.
1) It looks freakin' cool and matches the transparent legs of my monitor.
2) You can keep peripherals (i.e. camera, etc.) under it.
3) Better ventilation. Lord knows TiBooks get super hot when playing games. You won't hear that nasty fan come on when it's propped up on my iCurve.
It depends what kind of budget you're on. After blowing almost $4000 for the Ti and AirPort base station (only to have them come out with the 1GHz model a mere week later), $40 doesn't seem like much at all for a stand that keeps your two monitors in line with one another.
well, glad to hear people are getting their money's worth out of their purchase.
i noticed you have a macally icekey keyboard... now i AM very intersted in that. how is it compared to the current apple desktop keyboards and that 12" pbook keyboard you've got?

IMO, you never get your money's worth with any Macally product. Every single Macally mouse, keyboard, etc. feels cheap. The plastic even feels cheaper than other plastic...

**rok chokes on drink when seeing a stand for US$179** <img src="graemlins/surprised.gif" border="0" alt="[surprised]" />
at least it looks darn stable.
p.s. i can say that their ihub7 was a great buy for me, simply because i needed a powered usb hub that supported the startup key on the keyboard. so it fit that role well. pity i bought it before they dropped the price down to US$59... oh well.
