[quote]Also the AGP slot looks like the current X4 version although it 'may' be AGP Pro ( X2, X4, X8 support; wishfu l thinking perhaps) but that needs an additional power supply and the black one just by it is for the ADC I think<hr></blockquote>

You basically cannot distinguish between 4x and 8x AGP slots. They look the same. AGP Pro slots are longer. 8x AGP is backward compatible only down to 4x AGP.

    Eugene,

Come on man, please post that cease and desist. It'd be like putting a nice trophy up on the mantle. Besides, I wanna read it.

So, what are we, about three weeks away from August 13th? Isnt' that when Think Secret predicted that the new PowerMacs would be unveiled?

How long is this crazy thread going to be by that time? Jeepers.

    Anyway.

This is all academic to me at this point, I'm not buying this year. Bring out something kick-ass....I'll buy the next rev of the new one next time around.

The Dorsal repeat was fun....can't wait to see what happens!

well zaz you are right this thread is getting muddy.

Zaz that's a -prototype- or a fake, not a shipping product, by the way.

    Anyway, now that my post is buried on the last page, I'll ask again an interesting question raised in this thread: <a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=002151&p=2"; target="_blank">http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=002151&p=2</a>;

To maximize data bandwidth and reduce memory latency, Motorola Inc. said it will likely integrate a DRAM controller directly onto a future high-end PowerPC processor ... By doing so, the processor could bypass an external bus and have a direct link to the DRAM. ... "It makes a lot more sense to add high-speed memory controllers on processors," ... "Anytime you have a bus, you have to arbitrate for the bus. Rather than let it go hungry, you could feed the processor as fast as it can be fed."

Anyone who knows about this stuff think this is possible, in this case depicted here? Or in the next PowerMac revision?

I just don't know what to think at this point...

All I know is I want a kick-arse 3d workstation, and I would prefer that it said PowerMac on it somewhere...

Well, when I think of the case with the vents and all, I think back to the G3 B/W. The G4 got the same case with some variations. So I wonder if this new tower will have the stop gap G4 Moki mentioned and then in January a few more mods for the G5 or true G4 killer? So, I guess I'm setting my scope to january.

I can't wait any longer to find out if these pics are real or not. Anyone up for a moonlight raid on the cupertino campus?

    Obviously I am kidding.

But I have to say that I am pretty convinced by these pics. I doubt they look exactly like the final product, but I'm not concerned about the enclosure as much as I am the mainboard.

I want a faster bus. I want a faster AGP. I want More PCI Slots. I want perfect teeth and clear skin.

At least three of these things are probably included on the new mainboard ( i have a G3 B&W, so 4 PCI slots and a AGP is an improvement)

As for the Teeth and skin... screw it. I'll still feel better with a faster computer.

Nice try, GG - but these aren't more pictures, they're the same pictures.

    Oh, well....

I'm not going to make any wild claims, but I was looking at those vent/port things, and I agree that having them pointing down is counterproductive.

    However.

The speaker is on top? What if the case is upside down, and the speaker is actually on the bottom, where it is now? Suddenly, the holes are in a very sensible position, at a sensible angle, for plugging things in from the front. Especially if you consider that the machine is usually put under desks.

    Just something to think about.

I imagine by the time August 13th Rolls around this Thread will resemble an epic poem, or a Tolstoy masterpiece. Maybe we'll have come to some consensus about what these pictures are, just in time for apple to release something completely different.

I seriously doubt it, you can see the latch on the side for opening the case where it's always been.

Acctually Spart, I would buy one of the current G4s, especially the Dual Gig, but I'd feel dumb buying it now when i can see that new ones are around the corner. I imagine I can buy one of those perfectly fine and dandy Dual Gigs for cut rate prices when these beasts are released...

as for xserve, Hmm.. wouldn't match the curtains...
